There are better coaches right now available who would jump off buildings to get the Miss State job. If he doesn't win he will be gone and if it looks bad, he will be gone before the end of the season.
Only way “a few more years” happens is if he has a decent 26-27 season, which means we’d have won bigly in the portal. Seems unlikely.
Arnett should make a difference on defense. This is the way it should’ve always been. Not using the interim tag on Arnett was a massive mistake. 100% on Keenum.
He’s gonna have a short leash next year, and we are completely justified in doing so. We need to hire Art Briles yesterday.
Our record improved but i don't think the team improved a whole lot. I just think the SEC sucked even more than last season. The SEC has a coaching problem.
You want me to list every winning G5 coach because I am pretty sure they would not be making the same stupid in game decisions. Some may not come but most would probably jump to get to a SEC job vs where they are. We don't know because Selmon hire Lebby. I really don't believe he made a honest coaching search and planned to go with Lebby no matter what.
Name three winning G5 coaches who will jump out of a building for the Mississippi State job if it were to come open today.
I am not listing three or all of them, but you know damn well some would come. Lebby is not a good coach, and we could do better and should have done better. we are not taking today we were talking mid-season firing next season. I am not calling for firing today.
You won’t even list any because you don’t know anything about anyone. You and others on here spent 2023 screaming for a high tempo, explosive, passing offense that would score points be exciting with how they do it. You got what you wanted and now you’re whining and talking about wanting any G5 with a winning record? This board is wild and insane.
I never called for high explosive offense. I wanted a coach who can win. I don't give a **** about what offense they run or where they come from. So, take that **** up with some else.
We hear this every coaching search about how head coaches will crawl over broken glass to take the Mississippi State job, but last time Sumrall and Fritz and Chadwell saying "thanks but no thanks." Lebby was like the 3-4th choice.
I have no doubt we will hire a sitting coach next time around, but it's going to be someone from the FCS level or a G5 coach with a less than ideal record. Mississippi State is not a desirable job. It's a tough conference. We have the smallest budget. We don't pay top dollar for coaches...EVER. And we're impatient.
I don't want the man fired. I want to win and hope he can go out a get it done. I was feeling better about him until the bowl game with some of the decisions he made. 25 games in and still making mistakes. I hope he proves everyone wrong and wins. That's all I want.
He needs longer than just next year alone.2-3 more years. Be patient. Half this board wanted this style of offensive scheme. It’s only year 2 and the offense immediately changed. It’s going to take more talent and more depth with quality talent, on bith sides of the ball, to fully be rebuilt with Lebby’s fast, aggressive go for it, style of play. Be patient GloryDawg.

Just playing my advocate here. So, let me understand this. You are saying that even if we are bad next year we should give the man 2 to 3 more years? I do not need some explanation. I just want a yes or no.

You said you did not need an explanation, that all you wanted was a yes or no answer. We are improving in year 2. I’m saying the reality of that full improvement needs 2-3 more years. Meaning we could be around there same as this year for next year give or take, but the year after that you will see a bigger jump.
You are right I did, and still don’t. I just wanted to confirm in my mind that you are a troll. Now that is just my opinion, and I could be wrong. That being said, you certainly have a right to your opinion. I do not agree in the least. I do not see anyway Lebby has a year like this one, and survives past that. Let me also cut off what I would think would be your retort. Do I think we should change coaches every 2 to 3 years? I do not. I also do not think Lebby is the guy. I am of the opinion that we need a guy with previous head coaching experience even if that means a guy that maybe had an issue or two else where. I could be very wrong in that thinking.
