The Cubs are done this year...they are playing about as inspired as our OL did in the Egg Bowl

if today holds up. It's way too early to quit.

But they do seem to have some issues right now, I won't deny that.

They should have dumped Lee 2 seasons ago when they could have gotten something for him.

At least they aren't trying to put a dagger in our hearts again this season and dumping early.

the only source of offense that we've had for the past month and a half is the problem.
They should have dumped Lee 2 seasons ago when they could have gotten something for him.

But he is the only real option for getting somebody worth a crap aside from losing a member of our rotation. The money left on Fonsi and Bradley's contracts makes them virtually impossible to trade, unless we want to take a huge hit in the wallet. I'm not so sure that's gonna happen considering Ricketts just dropped almost a billion on the club. I wish we could get rid of Harden, I thought that was a terrible idea from the begining and especially now after I went to Wrigley last week and saw him get shelled for 7 runs in 2 innings. I think Hendry may have some problems if Soriano and Bradley don't figure things out soon.

why no one has thought to move Harden to the bullpen. He is pretty filthy, but he keeps getting hurt. Not that relief pitching is less strenuous, but I think it might benefit him and the team.

I'd probably take that....anything to get Heilman out of the bullpen and possibly on a different team. I wonder if anyone needs a reluctant set-up man with an era approaching six and apparently no control over his slider and change-up.

Lee was brought in to be an MVP player at 1st and never has fulfilled that role since he has been there.

Gold glove, yes. Adequate numbers during the season...maybe 3 or 4 years ago. Clutch hitting in the playoffs or down the stretch run for a title....no.

I like the guy but I think they should have put their money in a big lefty on first with a decent glove, or some solid power hitting right fielder and not let their bullpen ace get away. But the Cubs have been making dumbass front office decisions for years...nothing new.

He was awesome. I think he went 15-0 for the Irish one year. You knew he was going to be a Big Leaguer.

But my point was that Derek Lee is not the problem right now. He leads the team in HR, RBIs, and is in second on the team in AVG. He is not the player to be blamed for our lack of any offensive production.

The problem is the 20 million dollar contract that we are paying Milton Bradley to help from the left side and he is batting a robust .189 from that side. Not to mention the 16 million we are paying to Soriano this year to commit fielding errors, bat .230, and do his ghey hop out in left field. Jim Hendry has left us in a tight spot with these inflated contracts to garbage players.

If they all keep beating up on each other then it will stay close well into the playoff race. The Cards, Cubs, Brewers, and Reds all have pretty good starting pitching. The Brewers have the best all around team right now and have the best offensive lineup. I wouldnt be surprised if they tried to trade for another pitcher before the deadline. I think the Brew Crew wins the division in the end.

You are absolutely correct. I was just using Lee as an example of my ire towards the front office. Your examples are probably better but honestly, we could fill a page or two with all the screwups they have made.

why in the 17 they signed Bradley. He has always been a decent hitter, but he is cancerous everywhere he has been. If things dont go his way, he just blows up. Whats killing them is Bradley and Soriano not hitting, along with Aramis getting hurt. We'll know by mid-August if the Cubs are going to win it or not. Either Bradley and Soriano start hitting, or this season is over.

Personally, I'd put Hoffpauir in RF full-time and just ride it out with him. Then I'd trade Bradley to Japan for some Kobe beef and a Geisha and be done with him.

I really like Houpauir. Ramirez getting hurt took a big chunk out of their offense and Soto is having the sophomore jinx.

I have spared myself the agony and quit watching the games in May when I saw they were becoming the Crubbies of old this season.
