It's early, but let's compare the resume of two teams.

Team 1:

Overall record and conference record: 17-4 (4-2)
RPI: 38
SOS: 71
Quality wins: Arizona, West Virginia, Alabama, @Vanderbilt, LSU
Bad losses: NONE

Team 2:

Overall record and conference record: 15-4 (3-1)
RPI: 37
SOS: 100
Quality wins: Arizona, FSU, LSU, Yale
Bad losses: @Rutgers, @UT

It's probably pretty obvious we are the 1st team, but if you know who the 2nd team is, take a guess. I think our resume is at least as good as Team 2, maybe even slightly better. However, Team 2 is projected to be a 4 seed in the latest bracketology, and we, Team 1, are projected to be an 8 seed.I know we've been a bit inconsistent with our play, but we've won 17 games, beaten some solid teams, and I think we deserve a bit more respect than we've been getting.

2 months from now. Chill out... NOTHING is set. There is still a lot of basketball left to be play and Lunardi doesn't know any more than you or me right now.

I think bracketology is based on what Lunardi thinks a team is going to do by seasons end, and not by how they are sitting at the moment. He obviously doesn't have much faith in us. He should post on this board. He would fit right in.

Or a convincing win against Texas A&M at a neutral site isn't more compelling than a close win at home against LSU?

I just think the resumes are a bit too close for us not to be getting the same level of respect. The seeding does piss me off a little even though its early, but it just seems like because we have been inconsistent in our wins that we don't get the same level of respect. I hear too much "trying to erase the problems of last year" and "rebounding from the problems of last year". That stuff is in the past, but people still see Sid and immediately say "problem". We are a different team now, and I think it's time the stigma of last year should no longer apply to this years team.

Outside of winning the Big 12 tournament they aren't going to come close to sniffing the NCAA Tournament. They are 10-8 and 2-5 in the Big 12. Many thought that would be a good win at the beginning of the season, but they have stunk this year. In comparison, LSU has an RPI of 73. They aren't a bad team, they are just young, inexperienced, and somewhere in the middle tier of the SEC.

Giving UCONN a 4 seed seems about right. I feel like they are one of those teams that get better down the stretch every year. I think they will get some big wins in the Big East this year that will vault them into a premiere seed. However, we are definitely deserving of a better seed than an 8 seed judging from our play so far. But I expect disrespect towards us, especially from ESPN.<div>

UCONN's SOS is very good. They should be higher than us. But UF shouldn't be as far ahead of us, and I think we should be getting a bit more positive press for the way we've played this year.

regardless of reality, for whatever reason. I'm not saying they're not a great team, but for the past few years they've been consistently overrated.

per realtimerpi. For those concerned about Akron loss, they are now at 55 and rated higher than Arkansas.

LSU has a respectable RPI but I didn't think we would move up 5 spots. If we can take care of business Saturday, we could get close or even into the Top 25 in RPI and pretty much make people start paying attention to us as a legit team.

As of now, they are 34 and we are 35 on Warren Nolan's RPI. I'd say that's about right. They beat Arizona and A&M as well. Their loss against Ohio State was a true road game so they get a little more of a bump for that than our neutral court loss to Baylor. Their road losses to UT and Rutgers pretty much even out our home loss to Akron. We could still slip and earn a bad loss. Those road games at Auburn and SC aren't gimmes.
