Other random thoughts from yesterday:
1. The white-out was freaking awesome. In the future it needs to be vs. an SEC team so we can be sure the team can wear white too.
2. I know Memphis is bad, but we did what a good team is supposed to do to a bad team. Take them to the woodshed. This game had the same feel as the Fullerton and Tulane games did in 1991. I remember thinking then, "I know these are bad teams, but we used to beat those teams by 2 TDs. Now we're beating them by 7 TDs." Just like those games were a sign of the beginning of a new era at MSU, this game is a sign that this is a new era at MSU.
3. The TV announcers weren't good, but I've liked Herm Edwards since he was a player and I like that he was pro-MSU and made a point of being sure everyone knew he bought his two daughters matching pink cowbells at the bookstore. Also, the sideline chick was pretty hot.
4. If I'm Cannon Smith, I'd be a little pissed at my coach. You bench me early when we're down 0-7 and don't put me in again until we're down by close to 50, even though my replacement didn't do any better than I did?
5. Overall, I thought we played a great game. But we didn't run it quite as well as I thought we would. Maybe we miss AD a little more than I thought we would. I will say though, that I was more disappointed in the run blocking than I was with the RBs.
6. For everyone who said we'd play a very basic, vanilla offense, I told you so. That was Crxxm's style (and Sherrill's and Felker's before him), but that ain't Mullen's style. He may not have publicly bitched about not putting 50 on the board like Spurrier did, but I'm sure he thought it. I'm sure he's a little pissed about losing the shutout late like we did too.
7. I didn't watch the Mississippi game, but I wish I did. Even more shocking than the fact they lost is the way they lost. A 13-10 loss wouldn't have been as big of a surprise. Where was that great defense we've heard so much about? I guess the same place it was the last Saturday of last November.</p>
