I was amazed our bullpen pitched as well as it did.
If you had told me that Ross Mitchell and Girodo would end up being as dominant as they were in extended long relief rolls and that we would make it to the CWS finals with that blueprint, I would have laughed in your face. We have one reliable starting pitcher after two of our best went down with injury and got benched, our starting and most experienced catcher isn't even playing, and we've been suspect defensively in the playoffs.
But we were able to pitch well enough and get enough clutch hits to get to this point even with all of those things against us. Not sure how good we will be next year losing so many valuable pieces, but I'm interested to see how the remaining players grow from all of the experience they got during these playoffs.
