Things have taken a crazy turn. If this doesn't scare Auburn then they truly are oblivious. I can understand the denial but it's hard to deny taped phone calls saying it's going to take "more than a scholarship" This is going to fun to watch. Like someone already mentioned, it feels good to be the bad guy.

We got a live one here:
(and now Twitter craps out on me. Here it is.)

committing to Auburn that he wanted to come to MSU but "money was too
much." retweeted by bmarcello 9 minutes ago

Somebody tell me these conversations are recorded.

And BTW, I think it would be a good idea if all our recruiters recorded all of their conversations 100% of the time - so we can play offense or defense on these matters as needed.

In some ways there's more "hard" proof here than in the Reggie Bush case.

They will make an example out of this.

in reference to the quote from Cam that "the money was too much"

"Like...tuition? I'm sure that was left out of the interview for the story's sake..."

Uh, sorry, I have a feeling that Cam wasn't talking about college tuition. Or room and board. Or books. I mean, seriously?

here's how I see it went down:<div>
</div><div>-Bond reports to GB, GB to SEC & then the NCAA.</div><div>-NCAA starts investigations .."Put us on the line the next time you guys talk to Cecil or Cam"</div><div>-State obliges</div><div>-BOOM</div>

Joe Schad would not be on TV saying this if he has not heard it for himself or if he has not talked to someone FIRST HAND who has heard it.

We've been hearing for 7 days that there was a recording and it's obviously true. I talked to a person at Miss State in the athletic dept who said it's for real. Take it for what it's worth.

I'm somewhat speculating here, John Bond ain't no fool and he's the one with the tapes and that is why the F.B.I. has come knocking.....in the famous words of Mick Jagger....."Can't ya hear me knockin'"

Anyone ever heard of an Iphone...you can record all your conversations with the touch of a finger....just because someone had these conversations doesn't mean they were turned in a year ago.

This isn't the 70's anymore...you don't need a wire to tape a phone call.

I see what you're saying....yes the recording is a must....but why would ESPN report this if it hasn't been verified 100%.

Out of the 1 million stories ESPN reports a year...how many times are they wrong. Especially with something like this.

There is a recording.

the NCAA's burden of proof on themselves is laughable. Its something like "corroborating evidence" They base investigation after investigation on hearsay.

Its ridiculous but that's how they operate.

It was all hearsay. No burden of proof. Yet they still vacated everything from Memphis' season.

The NCAA does what it wants, when it wants, whenever the 17 it wants to.

have you not seen how the NCAA works? They don't need hard evidence.. they only have to be "pretty sure" you're guilty. USC basically got busted on the word of a convicted felon and wanna be agent. Also see Memphis and Derrick Rose.

I demand the heads of Slive and the rest of the SEC office. They are just as responsible for this happening. They had the data and tried to sweep it under the rug.

This thing is going to go down badly for both Newton and Auburn. The NCAA is going to hammer them. Auburn people need to wake up and realize what is happening instead of being mad at us and coming up with ridiculous conspiracy theories. They are now claiming that ESPN wants a Boise State vs. TCU matchup for the BCS title game, thus they are trying to take down Auburn any way they can. Come on, that's more ridiculous than the idea that Meyer leaked academic records from Florida. Note to Auburn: everybody isn't out to get you.

I am ashamed that Cecil Newton apparently felt the need to sell his kid to a college team rather than allow him to make the decision of where he wanted to play school. I am ashamed that he calls himself a preacher. I am ashamed that Auburn fans can't face facts and quit slinging venom at State as if we are powerful enough to orchestrate all of this. Most of all, I am ashamed that it took so long for this to come out.

What I am not ashamed of is how MSU has handled this. We did everything we were supposed to do.
