Take it for what it's worth, but I've heard KF is done at the end of the season. Obviously, this is RU and something could happen, but the word from inside is it's a done deal. Contrary to what has been posted in the Leaks post, I've not heard that those candidates are on the short list (I haven't heard any names on a list).

That's what we thought before that dreaded win vs USF in 2013... Now look where we are...

Don't count your chickens before they hatch. Especially with this admin and fanbase.

Unless we are playing by a totally different set of financial rules than anyone else in a major conference, this has to be true.

Don't let up on the pressure until the deed is done. This is RU and there's plenty of time to screw it up. Mail in your unused MD tickets to JH with a note!

I was told the same thing last week by someone w/ ties to the BOG, just hope it actually happens.
Agreed, we have been in this position twice already! It ain't over until it's over (hey, that's a great line, I should trademark it!).

Yeah, I've heard the same thing from people who should know. I was just reluctant to post a rumor like that here.
FWIW, one of the people that have been telling me this is also one of those who told me back when Flood was suspended that he had coached his last game at RU.
So...we'll see.

Rick Pizzo (BTN) said on SXM today that he would be shocked if Rutgers does not make a coaching change following the season. Don't know if he has any good sources or if it's just his gut feeling.

Didn't we also hear that Carroo's offense earlier in the year would make us "sick to our stomachs"? And how about the many people who've said "Flood will 100% be back next year"?

Don't think anyone here knows more than anyone else. But it's easy to make a post like this: you're right, you flaunt it; you're wrong, no one remembers.

i'm pretty sure thats what any rational person would think looking at what has transpired this year.

Jeez, I would have thought it was over when a bunch of his players decided to go on a hip-hop crime spree. Yes, it happens a lot but it is usually individuals involved. Not a gang. And not against fellow students. Flood sets the tone. I just can't imagine this ever happening on a GS team. The whole BOG should be humiliated. Flood was an easy hire. The next one won't be for a poor university out of dough.

I don't know... folks with real power over RU with whom I have spoken seem to focus on one thing -- that Elmer's inexpensive. I'd be surprised if he goes anywhere next year, to be honest.

I don't know OP or his sources but anytime someone says "it's a done deal" and also says "this is RU and something could happen" it makes me think those sources are not particularly firm on details. Way too many people make proclamations of fact but then say things like "unless something crazy happens", "things could always change", etc, etc.

It's either a done deal or its not.

I will be surprised if Flood is fired. If he is I think it will be more about the off the field issues he had this year than his on field performance if he somehow wins 5 games.

Financially, I think the admin wants to wait another year since we probably will have more money next year unless the boosters will fund the $1.4 mil buyout plus another $2 mil a year salary.

"the extension guarantees Flood to receive a flat $1.4 million buyout if he is terminated without cause at any point through Feb. 28, 2019. "

Next month I can search for "parsnips" and pull up this thread to see who is right and wrong.

He has to be gone as everything has fallen apart. The on the field play and coaching. The coach's integrity. The team's minimal arrest record. The team's APR. And the list goes on and on. So there is no way he returns next year. Even Rutgers won't screw this up.

If these rumors are true, I have to wonder how Flood could be so adamant about his "support" when he was asked about his status and the UFUNDme thing. One more bad loss has suddenly made this change?
Although I think it is in the best interest of the program to make a change, I will be surprised if it actually happens.

You need to read between the lines my friend. What do you want JH to say to Flood? If you've ever worked in the corporate world, the same people that fire you are the same people that first said they "have your back." JH and the BOG would not let on about their ultimate decision. I'm sure during the year, JH has said to Elmer, "You have my support." But what does that actually mean? What it really means, is "You have my support until you don't."

Flood's days were numbered when he was suspended. After losing to Nebraska with no bowl in sight, and four straight blowouts, the last nail has been hammered into the coffin.

Than those people really aren't considering the net impact to the university...imagine what happens when 1/3 of the season ticket holders don't re-up? That $1.4 M buy-out becomes pocket change.

There's the rub,as they say.I believe any termination will be "with cause" & we will not have to pay the full $1.4mill.The open investigation remains. He will take less & go away

Wasn't one of the reasons for coach Floods extension that boosters (ahem, Jeff Towers) would pledge funds to his increased buyout? If so, then he or they should pay up when the time comes.

You're not considering how much it would cost the university to keep Flood.

Also, Towers is on the hook for Flood's buyout so that really doesn't matter.

I get a distinct sense that Flood, while a super nice guy, just doesn't have the understanding or savviness to play ball at this level. Because Julie said she supports him once, doesn't mean she always will. The first time he hears he isn't supported will also be the same meeting he is told he won't be coaching Rutgers any more.

Personally speaking, I am starting to believe more what I hear about Flood then I did the posters here spouting off about Carroo, only to be proven wrong.

Too much coming from too many places now. Even so, this is Rutgers. Until it is done, you never really know.
