Your possible opponent primer.

vs. AAC #5 Team.

Southern Methoidist (5-6) must beat Central Florida to become bowl eligible.
Rutgers (5-6) must beat South Florida to become bowl eligible.

SMU is unlikely to beat UCF, and Rutgers will be favored to win against USF. Best chance for opponent is a 6-6 Rutgers team.

But, if SMU and Rutgers both lose, the AAC will only have four bowl eligible teams and will be unable to fill their bowl slots. There are six teams that havd 6 wins that will need a place - there are likely to be 3-4 openings, including possibly the Compass Bowl. Pittsburgh has been to Birmingham 3 of the last 4 years, so they are likely out, and Buffalo, Toledo and Western Kentucky as well. That leaves North Carolina (6-6), Washington State (6-6), or Oregon State (6-6).

One of the bowls that will need a team will be the San Diego Poinsettia Bowl, which will probably take Oregon State. The Idaho Potato Bowl will probably take Washington State, who has already traveled to Auburn this year. Pittsburgh will probably end up in the Heart of Dallas and UNC will be the best available for the Compass. If UNC lands somewhere else, we'll see one of the MAC teams like Buffalo or Toledo or a Sun Belt team like Western Kentucky.

Maybe not... I think there still may be another BCS Bowl that would take an SEC team for an at-large, but I may be wrong

I'd rather end up in Bradshawville and play against a Big 12 school than a "better" bowl against WKU, Temple, or Rutgers.

Bama is a lock for a BCS bowl. No way they drop past 5th.

And if they did and there was an at large, they would get it. Their fans travel and the country watches when they play (advertising).

Dont count out the Iron Bowl rematch in the BCSCG, with a third SEC team in the BCS.

Let's see......

Auburn beats Missouri
Michigan State beats Ohio State
Oklahoma beats Oklahoma State
and the wild card....Duke beats FSU

That would pretty much do it for Bama, right?

And if Mizzou wins next week by a massive margin and both Alabama teams are #6 or worse?

I'm just saying, Compass isn't a lock yet. I would LOVE for Ole Miss to go back there after the off-season they had.

We could finished either 8 or 9 in the SEC. 3-5 like UF and TSUN but UF isn't bowl eligible and we beat TSUN, so what are we SEC#8 right after Vandy?

It's got to be Liberty or Compass and I think Liberty takes us and Ole Miss goes to Compass Bowl again.

Miss St vs Marshall in Liberty Bowl. Marshall over UCF in CUSACG

It's not that simple. It would only work out that way if the Music City bowl takes Vandy, but they are already on record that they don't want Vandy in their bowl. Their next choice will be Ole Miss. That leaves Vandy and us...and the SEC won't let the Liberty Bowl take us over Vandy because they have two more wins than we do.

Bottom line: Vandy winning today kicked us down to Birmingham. If they had lost today, we'd be a lock for the Liberty Bowl.

Wait, so you're telling me we are #8 in the SEC? I could have sworn I read on here multiple times that we were the bottom of the SEC.

And UCF isn't cusa anymore. They are about to win the AAC and get a bcs bowl.

Is it not possible for Vandy to get bumped up to the Gator with Georgia falling to the MSB? Georgia without Murray and with the poor season is not going to be an easy sell. Then it would basically be MSU or UM for Liberty and BBVA?

I'm pretty sure you can't have 3 BCS teams from 1 conference even if you have two in the championship game. The Sugar Bowl would have to go with another non-SEC team.
