I've never disliked Ole Miss fans as a whole until this year....

Maybe It's because of facebook, but I have never seen such hate for everything that is Miss. State. Anytime the Miss State facebook page makes a post about anything, you would not believe the number of Ole Miss fans that comment on it.
It really confuses me, why would an Ole Miss fan follow the Miss State athletics facebook page.

Because they are obsessed. They are jeleous of our recent success, and the have had nothing to crow about in ANY sport since they won the Cotton Bowl the first time a few years ago. Their basketball program has been just short of the mark our basketball team has achieved numerous times. Our baseball program has surpassed theirs and we will take out rightfull spot again this year when we host a regional. Can't get to Omaha, can't get to Atlanta. Why do you think they crow about one win?

And they are just all around douche bags.

It is a rather interesting phenomenon. I don't know if State fans do it or not but I had an Ole Miss fan follow me that is a friend of my brother-in-law. So I went to read his timeline.

Kyle Niblett tweets something about our bowl game and he responds back to Kyle with "Ole Miss has won more bowl games than State has been too". There is another Ole Miss guy that I know that does the same thing. They respond to a lot of official MSU accounts.

I will say they have been pretty crazy the last few weeks. I don't remember State fans being quite this over the top. At least not in such large numbers.

Also realize that UM has a lot more sidewalk alumni than us. Most of what you see is from the random confederate flag tattooed, mouth breathers they attract. It zaul bout tradishuns.

I think I have thick skin, this stuff has never bothered me before. I've always had the attitude that t's good for the state of MS for all the football schools to be relevant. But I'm done, there are some haters out there for sure.

Yep. We talked it from our admin down and now it's being reciprocated.

I just don't' remember State fans talking directly to Ole Miss official accounts.

Some of them actually have a lack of respect for State as an institution and show their ignorance and their asses at the same time because of it.

Yep. It's just part of it. The winner earns the bragging rights. They kicked our *** all over the field and they've earned the right to talk about it. Our fans are just making it worse by bitching about it. We dished it out for 3 years and the best thing to do now is just STFU and take it.

I never realized how many of these types they really had. Makes their whole 'elitist' aura seem sort of silly.

^^^This^^^ I really don't know any state fans that would contend that OM is a bad school or has an ugly campus. Yet I constantly see how MSU as an institution is hated. I don't hate an accounting degree from OM but they will quickly tell you they have the older and better engineering school. There hate runs deeper

I've noticed a lot of this out of "friends" that are OM fans. It really seems like the spend every second of the day watching Twitter for anything State-related and then strike it down. For the guys I know, it is never enough that their team win-- they must spend as much energy as possible pointing out all the reasons that State isn't any good. Seems like policing social media like that would become very tiresome at some point, but not for them.

They have been saving up all the mean spirit to spew when they finally won one again. It is here. Add to that the marketing campaign, and mullen making them foam at the mouth by simply talking. There is just not a mutual respect, and I don't think there will ever be. I will give them their due this year, just don't disrespect my university. I just say, it's a plain fact you outplayed us this year.

Then See their qb tearing down John Banks, victory red, and ***** tyree saying banks was never really any good. Maybe freezus will instill some respect with the preacher bit. I mean if you went 1 for your last 4 wouldn't you still have some respect for the other team? I respect the hell outta Arkansas football even though we are 1-the last 4 against them.

Wallace never mentioned Banks. It was an obsessed dog fan that mentioned Banks. Wallace only said that Moncreif should be up for an award. Your fan made a comment about Banks. Even in the reply Wallace still only mentioned Moncreif. You can take it as a slap at Banks, but I just dont understand how.

Ole miss has an engineering school? Jj. But seriously, in my 14 years of engineering, project managing, and managing engineers, I have only met one person with an engineering degree from OM. All of my work has been in south LA, throughout MS, and a tiny bit of AL and FL (places you would expect to find them). I've seen UNO, Purdue, Auburn, LSU, MSU, Alabama, Vanderbilt, LaTech, Florida, and various others in numbers, but only the one OM. Do they really brag about it?

alright, well that wallace part aside....forget that. the point is mutual respect overall granted this is the interwebs. Facebook and Twitter make things way worse I think. Those tools just pour gasoline on the hatred, otherwise no one would ever know what you thought about om or state unless you talked in person. In person people in general are more apt to be respectful.

I was like that until I visited the school when trying to decide which of the two to go to. I went to each campus several times and attended numerous football games and egg bowls all during HS. I used to root for both to do well and pull for the team with the better record in the egg bowl just wanting to see the state do well. It didn't take me long to figure out which was a better fit for me. It also didnt take my "friends" long to berate me once I chose the "cow college". All I heard was how much better OM was, only rednecks and farmers went to MSU, blah blah blah. I guess that's really when I started hating them. A lot of them can be very hard to like.

It's all about timing and understanding context clues. It was a shot at Banks. Don't be an idiot.

You can say what you want and call me an idiot if thats what you have to do to make yourself feel good about it, but there is no reason to look at that tweet as an attack. He didnt reference your team or anyone on it and he didnt reference the award Banks had won. He did reference his own teammate and an award for Moncreif's position. I really dont think he was trying to be negative towards Banks, but positive towards Moncreif.

But you are being naive if you think that wasn't a shot at Banks.

Banks wins the award at 6:50pm. The tweet by Wallace goes out at 6:54pm with the remark "So guess 12 should win an award #biletnekoff"

It doesn't take Batman level detective skills to deduce what he was talking about.

Your taking the inverse of 1 point I made. As a whole I don't think many state fans think OM business, accounting, poly sci, etc... Programs are bad, they think they are good degrees. A lot of OM fans will insist that all our programs are not good. I used engineering as an illustration to show how far they take it. And yes I know a cpl OM engineers and they do believe that

Yet another reason why the Book of Face is the devil. Morans can't figure out how to use it. The one thing I do like about it though is it allows people to show their stupidity. Makes it easier to cull the herd.

This is real life stuff. Our top guy here where I work is an Ole Miss engineering graduate. He's been in many positions over the years and has had the opportunity to hire a lot of engineers. He's still the ONLY Ole Miss engineering school graduate at our facility. Says a lot since the majority of engineers are State graduates and he hired a lot of them. He went to Ole Miss because he grew up in that area. Can't hold that against him and he's a very sharp guy too. Country boy and down to earth as you can get.

I have never known an OM engineer, and I know a lot of engineers. Know one from OM who has a PhD in physics that went to undergrad at OM (his brother is a professor at MSU, PhD from Vandy) but no engineers.

Acting like this is a one way street is just silly.

We (all the way from the administration to the fans) rubbed their noses in the past 3 years as often as possible. Every day. All day. I have no problem with that. Talking **** is part of it. But, what did you all expect? Did you expect that after enduring 3 years of **** from us, that they would just say "oh hey, that's neat" and not dish it back out? If you can't take it when the **** talking turns around the other direction, then you have no business participating in the **** talking int he first place.

Like I've said before, all this whining over OM fans, players, coaches, field goal posts, whatever talking **** just comes across like the whiny playground bully who is all big and bad until you hit him in the nose and then he goes and cries to the teacher. Suddenly, we lose the game and all of a sudden, "those stuck up Ole Miss fans are just intolerable and have no class". That's just whining. We lost. Deal with it and let's win the next one so we can flip in back on them again.

Any OM fan who says that Banks isn't a great player is an idiot. I don't know many who actually think that though.

Just because you wouldn't doesn't mean there aren't State fans who do

For the record, I think anyone (from whatever walk of life) that engages in that bs in the social media, whether its tweeting or facebooking at students/recruits or whatever, needs to meet the natural selection process.
