whine as bad as Ole Miss fans. I'm sure we'll have some Prep fan on here start talking about the past years soon enough.

They fire the only coach that ever dominated Prep for multiple years. He has a bad luck streak with Prep, and Prep only. And they fire him. They hire another coach. And in his first year, he apparently delivers what they paid him to deliver.

That has to make them feel vindicated. No doubt about that.. I myself said they were a fool to fire their coach. Strike one on my assertion.

Keep believe Hawkins was good. It is about the equivalent to the dumbasses that believe Crooms did a good job at State.

what does it matter if I keep believe Hawkins was good?

He is gone. He did represent JA's biggest success in football championships, even if he was a bag of **** without the bag.

All, I was saying, Gump, was that it has to be very satisfactory to fire someone with that record, hire a new person, and get what you want. Good hire, for this year at least.

it's as if NE Jackson (or at least the ever shrinking borders of affluent NE Jackson) has a culture of overt spending, which may or may not be representative of the income or assets of that area.

but its not really a choice when the alternative are JPS schools. i would have gone to madison central in a heartbeat if I had lived about 400 yards farther north.

atleast you admit that Sykes was a good hire. It was an obvious hire for the JA crowd and it is becoming more obvious to others.

man and knew nothing about the overwhelming talent he inherited his first year as the head coach.

Yeah, except that Hawkins actually won a lot of games. What was JA's record against Prep before he got there, something like 0-22? And he beat them a half dozen times? But yeah, congrats on the new hire. He's 2-0 vs. Prep now with a major ***-whipping in the finals and that's damn impressive. I guess he didn't inherit any talent like Hawkins supposedly did.

Now I learn he has been at JA for several years. He was smart to leave the rotting canker sore of Greenville. Congrats Coach Sykes. I for one never knew you had it in you.

JA had to go for two everytime because they didn't have a kicker. They fixed that. They also struggled to move the ball at the beginning of the year against anyone. They fixed that. Then they beat Prep in the regular season by 3. Again by 30 in the championship game. That's some unbelievable improvement.

When Hawkins was there, they produced at least three D-1 players that started at least one game in their college career. One of them started at left tackle for Ole Miss Saturday. I know Prep had at least one. Hawkins also had Schaeffer for three years-currently the best QB (statistically anyway) in the state. When Hawkins was there, they also seemed to somehow magically get transfers where they had holes. I have no idea how that worked.

But...take everything I say with a grain of salt. I played 2 years under Blount and a championship year under Hawkins. I've made it pretty clear my dislike of the man.

Think about a McCorvy / Croom offense, & that is what you have in the play calling of the Prep offense. It is very predictable & bland & they would go into what looked like a goal line offense on their own 20........they have a big QB, & one receiver (#9 I think it was, & he was 6'2" or 3") that stayed open all night, & the qb threw mostly into double coverage to his under 6' recievers. The 2 pick 6's were double coverage on a small receiver w/ the pick receiver w/ inside position down the middle of the field......other than that it wasQB left, QB right, QB draw, or dive off of center. Prep's offensive line was manhandled (I swear it was really like watching MSU last year)

JA has un-believable team speed, offense & defense, Prep really had nothing to match it. Prep got pushed around all over the field
