for his book in Jackson at the Ag Museum. Sid Salter was also there.

Cristil spoke briefly and went through 3 questions he gets asked since he is retired. The last one was the funniest.

He said "People ask what do you with your time now that you are retired?" Jack responded with "15 hours of the week I do dialysis for my kidneys. The other 153 hours of the week, I worry about doing dialysis for my kidneys"

to sign mine "Go to Hell Ole Miss" at the Bama game, and his response was "I'd rather not."
I was a bit disappointed since he's actually sporting that phrase in at least one of the photos in the book, but I easily demurred and let it pass. The funny thing is that Boo Ferris had almost the exact same response when I asked him to sign his book. Boo commented thatwhen he actually played against those guys, he didn't feel that way. I figured Jack would have more hostile feelings.

Anyway, for those of you haven't bought the book, get it. It has some parts that are great reads. Be prepared to skip others, though. It's obvious that Sid learned to write as a sports journalist, and some areas devolve into lists of dates/statistics and quotes from other sources that would fit well in anyClarion-Ledger sports article. Theaccompanying CD is alternately inspiring and disappointing (through both clip selection and timing)as well.

says there should be a six-figure donation for the Jack Cristil scholarship in the Dept of Communication.

I asked him to sign my book "Go To Hell Ole Miss" also at the bama game, and his was response was basically the same.

when I asked if he would sign it that way, he simply looked up and said "No". I replied with, "But you used to wear the pin that says it" JACK: "that was then, now I'm in the 4th quarter and the clock is ticking, so I have to get right with the big guy" ME: "Well this will only put you in great standing with the big guy, afterall, theyre still ole miss at the end of the day" JACK: "well, I guess I cant argue with that". And with that, he signed my book GO TO HELL OLE MISS! and I couldnt have been happier!
