In fact, McGee was the sole reason that former MSU great James 'J.J.' Johnson eventually signed with Mississippi State.
I heard Jackie say on the SEC drive time show once that he love Miss State and that he had already paid for his Grand children to go to school there. I don't know if it was MPAC or MACS or some other program but I heard it for my self. Not second hand.TheHorrorTheHorror said:but didnt jackie take his leave and not really even speak about the program after he left?
i know he didnt get back into coaching, but i dont remember anything like this after he was gone.
i know he was under "investigation", but jesus, he had a few really great years. it seems like croom is being bitter while trying not to be bitter.
"Chalk Talk". Every Monday sometime before lunch, he had a students-only session in the Union building. He would go over highlights from the previous week, talk about getting ready for the next game, and take student's questions. Coolest thing ever. I scheduled my classes around Chalk Talk.Big D said:My last year at state was Jackie's first year. I was not sure about the guy and saw him in the student union talking about the previous Saturday game to the students on several occasions but after I graduated I bought a Harley Davidson and I took off work one Friday to ride up to Starkville. This was before Hwy 25 was extended and it ran right by a quick stop in Carthage. I stop there to get something to drink and rest for a few minutes. While sitting there I saw a Ford Thunderbird pull up and Jackie got out went into the store and came out of the store over to me to ask about the bike. We talked for about 15 minutes or so. I have been a Jackie fan ever since. He is a really nice guy.</p>
