He just set Storm Lake’s all time leading scoring record of 1440 yesterday at OA-BCIG, DeJeans’s old stomping ground.

I think Iowa had a real shot at him if Fran had stayed. He announced for Creighton a few months after Fran was let go.

Who knows, maybe the Coon to Iowa saga may not be over if Creighton continues on this path. He must like the coach in-waiting quite a bit cause Mac will be done soon.
Storm lake isn’t exactly synonymous with basketball lore. Does DeJean going to school there a long time ago somehow make that record more impressive?

We have 3 seniors leaving, with a possibility of Banks returning, and one guy, Harris, already on board.

If Banks returns do we want to use the only available scholarship on another SF?

Seems like a PG is a must and an established big in the portal would be the next top priority.
Also having Trey been in the system for a year with 4 years remaining is a good thing.
I am with you.....need a solid PG pick up in the portal one one Big boy

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Dad was a shooting guard for the Tornadoes back in the day. They tore through most of NW Iowa back then. He was a master of the underhanded set shot, which was much more common then. As an adult, he could routinely hit nothing but net from the street end of our driveway.

We have 3 roster spots open currently.

* Banks might be back if the NCAA approves it (he played 2 years at a JR College)

* Definitely need a PG

* Ben said a year ago that bigs in the portal are too expensive. A big being unaffordable for IOWA COULD change if a donor steps up after this Sweet 16 (or better) run.

You mean portal out Owen Freeman? Looking forward to seeing him play at Morningside, or maybe they don't want a quitter either. 😉

Obviously they weren't good this year, but don't know much about their roster. I tuned in occasionally to see how Josh Dix was playing. I feel he would have stayed at Iowa had it not been for the unfortunate health situation of his now deceased Mother. That's a tough one for that family for sure. He just always came across as a great kid, not the type to chase money in my opinion.

And wasn't the new Creighton HC an assistant up until now?

North Carolina is showing that just because someone has been an assistant for many years that doesn't necessarily make that person a good head coach. This year was bad for Creighton; things could get worse. Ben, however, just wins.

I would imagine Ben has given Jaidyn a call and has him at least thinking about IOWA

Jaiden's dad was a shooting guard at Storm Lake? I never have seen a pic of him with Jaidyn; he's always just with him mom. Did he & Jaidyn's mom divorce?

What years did he play there? My cuz coached them for a couple of years before starting his trek West. Coached them to 2nd place at state and the next year they got beat in the sub-state, I believe. He had the Kennedy kid there when he was there… SL won the State a couple of years before he got there I believe.

Wouldn't they just be duplicating what they already have in Thompson and Harris?

INTERSTING about your dad. My cuz was there (Storm lake) in the “Kennedy days” of the early 70’s. He finished 2nd in rthe State his first year There….lost to Davenport West.
Cuz played BB at Central CoLlege. When he was there everyone who played BB shot their FT UNDERHANDED….EVERYONE. The old coach there has written his doctoral dissertation on “Undedrhand vs. Ovwrhand FT shooting…he had all kinds of stats and “physics” which showed underhand FT shooting was superior to OverHand FT shooting. Basically the “underhand” method was superior because 1) it was easier to reproduce the exact motion (fewer moving body parts) needed and 2) the physics of the ball (softness and spin) underhanded were superior to the spin/touch of an overhanded FT method. As I said, for 12-15 years this guy was BB coach at Central, his teams shot the ball “underhanded”……There was one exception to this and that was John Carle…he was allowed to shot FT the conventional over handed way…..but understand Carle was one the the best shooters/scorers in the USA his las couple of years at Central….John was Drafted by the Pistons I believe when the NBA only had 8-10 teams…and he was the last player they cut before they started their season back inn ‘61 or ‘62. JC was a helluva shooter. He owned the corner baseliner shot and he averaged damn near 30 points a game. He was one of the best shooters I ever saw. At little old Central College In Pella, Ioway.

Who are the Tornadoes? And what was their EF rating?

How old was she then? 13?
17 I think. Boyfriend’s parents were friends with my parents, so they stopped over to say what up after a high school bball game I believe (you know how parents get wild & crazy with a few totties after HS games).

Guessing around 1939 or 1940, just ahead of the war. He was born in 1924.
