I hope he and his mom have a great visit!

Click on the arrow in the middle right to eventually see a cool picture of them! A pic of Jaidyn & his dad is towards the end.

In all this Coon news I read he was ranked the 3rd best prep in the Iowa 2026 class.

Who were 1 and 2?
Not counting Des Moines United Prep School? Waukee NW has 2 kids Rice and Davis. One is Nebby other IL commits. 2 Big 10 Fs and they lost 1st rd state. But with what we got and Harris from WA coming in Coon is a better get for us if we can land position wise and needs in my opinion over those 2 from Waukee.

edit looking at rivals rice is #2 and that new prep school has a Houston. C commit at 1. Amount of $ and resources is insane for that place.

Looking at composite ratings today they had Ethan harris at 112 and Coons at 116...both 4 star.
I think the realistic sweet spot for Hawkeyes in HS recruiting is from 75- 150... financially, and retention- wise.
Coons is very well built w college body already....pretty explosive dunker...decent shooter from arc and good handle.
A wing that can shoot and finish in paint...not sure about defense but seems like a solid character guy who will work hard
Hope we land him.

Yes with even more athleticism/explosion IMO. Plus Jaidyn is from Ben's hometown and seems very humble and coachable so his ceiling is pretty darn high. He was never coming to Iowa under Fran, stars have seemed to align here...unless the $$ is too much or something goes sideways he's a Hawk. Close family connection told me last summer he really liked LSU but much too far for parents to watch games. He grew up Iowa fan yet with Fran there and recent struggles he looked at Creighton and liked Coach Mac too...full circle here!

I’m going purely off the film. Jaidyn does look very explosive but I think Sage is more athletic than people realize. It’s incredible to me Sage didn’t have a much better offer list.
Don't get me wrong Tate is athletic but Coon is one of those super athletes every team we play seems to have that we lack. Its pretty shocking Tate didnt have better offers, I think it was one of those measurables vs actual basketball skill things.

I wonder if he is the type of a player like Tate Sage, who will play and open a lot of eyes with what he can do on the court. If not, maybe redshirt like Trey Thompson....

And I think Sage had a loaded HS team IIRC so he flew under radar where talent evals were looking at other upperclassmen on his team. Glad we have him indeed - will only improve and seems to be a glue guy but can take over too and be unflappable in big moments. What a find for Ben.

Will def see yet Trey was very young for his class so the extra year will def benefit him. Jaidyn looks like at times he could've helped Iowa last year...get in the Iowa S&C program, etc and like the post here said people will be like "wow where did Iowa find this kid?"
