The New York Times said on Thursday afternoon that Pres. Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and disgraced former National Security Adviser Gen. Mike Flynn met with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak in December between Trump’s election and his inauguration.

The White House made the stunning admission less than an hour after Attorney Gen. Jeff Sessions recused himself from investigations of Russian meddling in the 2016 election.

Unbelievable. Imagine a transition team meeting with government they will soon get involved with. What the OP is not telling us, is how many other Ambassadors did they meet with. Non story.

You guys don't hesitate to display your ignorance. [laughing]

Kushner has absolutely no excuse. He wasn't a member of Congress nor an ambassador.

He doesn't have to be. He was a member of the transition team and an ADVISOR to the President Elect. My gosh is this a stupid, non-issue.

And until January 20th, he had no official capacity to represent the United States. It is a Logan Act violation. You know, the violation they fired Flynn for?

LOL. Obama and Emmanuel met with Mexican President prior to inauguration.

Below is a statement from Incoming White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs on the meeting between President-elect Obama and President Calderón

"President-elect Obama was very pleased to meet today with Mexico’s President Calderón, and he hopes this early meeting helps emphasize the high importance he places on a strong and deep relationship with Mexico. President-elect Obama was grateful to President Calderón for his hospitality, for the opportunity to have such warm and productive discussions and for the special tour of the art collection at the Mexican Cultural Institute.

"There is a long-standing tradition of U.S. presidents meeting with Mexico’s president prior to being sworn in, and this meeting was in keeping with that tradition.

"President-elect Obama expressed his commitment to advance cooperation on a range of issues, including security, the economy and immigration.

"On security, President-elect Obama underscored his interest in finding ways to work together to reduce drug-related violence. He applauded the steps that President Calderón has taken to improve security in Mexico and expressed his on-going support for the valuable work being done under the Mérida Initiative. President-elect Obama believes the cooperation under the Mérida Initiative can be a building block for a deeper relationship. President-elect Obama expressed support for efforts in the border states in both the United States and Mexico to eradicate drug-related violence and stop the flow of guns and cash. He told President Calderón that he intends to ask the Secretary of Homeland Security to lead an effort to increase information sharing to strengthen those efforts. He pledged to take more effective action from the United States to stem the flow of arms from the United States to Mexico.

"On trade and the economy, President-elect Obama said that with both countries facing very difficult economic times, it’s important to work together to maintain a constructive and comprehensive dialogue. He expressed his continued commitment to upgrading NAFTA to strengthen labor and environmental provisions to reflect the values that are widely shared in both of our countries, and proposed the creation of a consultative group to work on a host of issues important to the United States and Mexico, including NAFTA, energy and infrastructure. President-elect Obama noted that his economic recovery plan includes substantial investments for port of entry modernization and improvements on the Mexican border to facilitate legal trade and commerce. President-elect Obama told President Calderón that he is impressed by the commitment Mexico made at the Poznan conference and said he hoped our two countries could soon begin conversations about mutually beneficial opportunities in low carbon energy development and carbon abatement opportunities.

"President-elect Obama underscored his commitment to working with Congress to fix the broken U.S. immigration system and fostering safe, legal and orderly migration. He expressed his strongly held view that immigrants should be treated with dignity and that the immigration debate should not be a vehicle for vilifying any group, and that our two countries need to work more effectively to stop the flow of illegal immigration into the United States.

"President Calderón was joined in the meeting by Foreign Secretary Patricia Espinosa, Interior Secretary Fernando Gomez Mont, Treasury Secretary Agustín Carstens and Ambassador to the United States Arturo Sarukhan.

"President-elect Obama was joined by Chief of Staff Designee Rahm Emanuel, National Security Advisor Designee General Jim Jones (Ret.) and White House National Economic Council Director-Designee Lawrence Summers.

"The meeting was held over lunch at the Mexican Cultural Institute in Washington, DC, and lasted for one and a half hours. Following the meeting, President Calderón and President-elect Obama walked through the José Clemente Orozco Gallery which houses an important collection of Mexican art, including works by Robert Cueva Del Río, Diego Rivera and David Alfaro Siqueiros," said Incoming White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs.

Flynn was never indicted or charges with violating the Logan act. I must have missed the report that he was arrested for violating the Logan act...... Where did you see that information?

So if the Logan Act was violated by Obama, should we charge him if the statute of limitations has not expired?

I couldn't care less, one way or the other. Since we have good relations with Mexico (or had until a few weeks ago), he probably caused no harm. Quite a bit different than our biggest enemy, Russia, and the apparent collusion on the election. Why would so many of Trump's campaign members be in contact with Russia back in July and September? Really strange.

The guy that doesn't understand the difference between an introductory conversation for the purpose of relationship building and a meeting attempting to carry out state business.

I'm not a representative of our country yet I meet with representatives of foreign governments on a monthly basis. I'm not violating the Logan act. It's not a crime.

The more you post the more I realize you live into a sheltered bizarro world void of common sense.

We have no idea what they talked about. Mexico is the largest illegal drug importer into the U.S. Maybe they solicited contributions to keep the border open? Illegal aliens send roughly $28B back to Mexico each year, maybe Obama and Emanuel wanted a piece of that action.

And Obama rebuked Romney who called Russia our biggest geo-political threat. Obviously Obama did not think Russia was the enemy. Don't you remember the Hillary reset button (misspelled the Russian word)? Don't you remember Obama telling Medvedev to please tell Vlad he will have more "flexibility" after is 2012 election win? Hmmmmm?

Probably talked about sanctions among other things. Is that a crime? BTW, give up your Logan Act argument. Even the perilously liberal Wash Post calls it a non-starter.

If you actually met with foreign governments on a routine basis, you would be completely aware of the Logan Act. All defense industry reps are completely aware of it.

If you actually met with foreign governments, you would also know to not discuss "intent to influence the measures or conduct of any foreign government" (quoted from the Logan Act).

That is not what he said. This is what he said:

"Although there is evidence of potential violations of the statutes regarding the handling of classified information, our judgment is that no reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case. Prosecutors necessarily weigh a number of factors before bringing charges. There are obvious considerations, like the strength of the evidence, especially regarding intent. Responsible decisions also consider the context of a person’s actions, and how similar situations have been handled in the past."

"how similar situations have been handled in the past". Exactly. Logan Act never been used. NEVER. Give it up. Emanual had a similar situation, never charged. No one has ever been charged. This is exactly how this has been handled in the past. Move on.

Where in the hell did you get that I didn't know about the Logan Act?

Please post the agenda of the transition team meetings in which there is proof the Logan Act was violated.

Are you familiar with the term Foreign Military Sales? Or Direct Commercial Sales to a Foreign nation? How exactly do you think those deals get done without speaking to entities within a foreign Gov't? You don't know what you're talking about. Stop pretending that you do.
