The quote Robinson made a few weeks back stuck with me. "Coach Pope really cares about me, stays in touch with me and calls me all the time, and he isn't even my coach anymore, AT LEAST NOT RIGHT NOW." When he made that statement, I had a really good feeling he would be a Cat. The "at least not right now" part was very telling if anybody paid close attention.

I’ve watched 6 hours of tape on Robinson since his commitment and I’ll be honest I am worried. It doesn’t look like he has any handling, dribbling, rebounding, or general playmaking ability. When do we get a stud?

/s just in case.

Looks like reading comprehension isn't a strong suit of yours. Based on people here suggesting that he was strongly not wanting to come back to school, my suggestion of passing on him was correct. So if those rumors were true, then Pope most assuredly had that conversation with him as Mark is really trying to change the culture to something different than the one we had before where kids were coming here with one foot out the door.
So you would want to pass on players who have no intention of coming here ? Wow, really riveting thoughts there. "Mark" LOL, I do not think you know Mark Pope well enough to reference him on a first name basis. But if it makes you feel important, knock yourself out.

That dude was MADE for the IGNORE button.
I have ignored people in the past. But TBH, ignoring might mean you miss out on that one thing a person adds that makes sense. I can be as guilty as anyone when I get roused up. However, we should try to tone it down a little and listen rather than ignoring or pointing fingers.

You're free to do that. I ignore insanity in my daily life and lots of it here. I have no desire to read hours of insanity to find one nuggest of sanity. Talk about Clutter.

I never put anyone on ignore until the night the Pope hire was announced. Good God the level of negativity was off the charts and it still is to some degree. I have no desire to engage in all of that. I deal with stressed out anxiety ridden people all day at work. Not doing it here. The ignore button has been a good friend. Now, if only I could get some of the other great posters on here to stop replying to them. lol

I was originally skeptical of the Pope hiring given his NCAA tournament resume for his five years at BYU. I changed my mind quickly once he got to hit the road recruiting for UK. I believe the right hire was made now and the results on the court should back that up when the time comes.

The veteran depth and experience this roster has is beyond intriguing now. I'm excited to see and hear how practices go heading into the season now that there is only one scholarship left to be used.

This team has every opportunity to be a special one, although I don't think it's necessarily fair to put that on Pope in his first year.

It's funny to say but we actually have some Mercenary fans that don't even enjoy the games or season even if they say they do. The only thing they find happiness in (that lasts for less than a week) is a title. What a lousy road to travel.

I'm not quite sure of what the agenda is with that behavior. A lot of the posts from the accounts doing that read eerily similar to where it wouldn't be surprising if it was one person using 4-5 accounts just negatively talking amongst himself.

I think there's a lady on here with a ton of accounts, too. Bookeran66, ruppsrunt66, ukmelanie, etc. are all the same person IMO. Plays both sides of the fence all day long under all kinds of accounts and wastes everyone's time.

Williams - Garrison
Carr - Almonor
Robinson - Oweh - Noah
Chandler - Brea - Perry
Butler - KK - Perry

12 legitimate basketball players. That's a deep team. No elite players, but 10 very good players. Reminds me of that 1995 team.
I really like the roster too. I liked it before Robinson, but he's another good player to add and does make for a really deep team. I can't think of any 2024 college All-Americans that were in the transfer portal (but maybe there's one I'm not thinking of), so I don't see where there were any so-called elite players Pope could have added instead of the guys he got. Maybe you would call Osobor or Johnell Davis elite college players - I could see that - but I think UK has guys who could potentially outperform both of those guys.

Workout videos don’t always amount to anything, but for some reason I have seen a few with Noah in them recently. If he can improve his quickness and explosion a little, I think he, like Chandler could really surprise some people.

Pope won 23 games last year with a ton less talent. So intriguing to see his style of play with one of the most experienced and high level talent team to go with that. There are no weaknesses or missing pieces that I can see. It will be difficult for teams with little depth IMO.

I tend to refer to him as Mark, myself
I’ve always called our players by their first names, or their nickname. At least, the ones we got to “know” or made an impact.
I’ve had some trouble referring to him as Coach Pope, lol. I’ve resorted to just saying CMP

Damn I’m getting old lmao
