I don’t know how you play basketball with hair like that. I couldn’t do it. It would drive me crazy flopping around my face. But, as long as he rebounds, blocks shots, and dunks everything around the rim, fine by me.
I'm fine with his hair off the court, it's his head, he can do whatever he wants with it. BUT, if I'm coach, I'm a little concerned about his peripheral vision on the court. If you look at some of his pics, his hair almost looks like blinders on a horse. I might be trying to talk him into a headband or some other way to get his hair out of the way. But, I'm thrilled he's a Cat! Should be fun to watch next season no matter what.

Major get if healthy. The one concern about his game is free throw shooting. He only shot 48% from the line and averaged 3 shots per game. That has to improve a lot. But his potential is massive. It’s just a damn shame he didn’t stick with his UK commitment last year so we got more than one year with him.

Have to wonder if Pope isn’t gong to be running his offense through his big men next year. Can’t see Quaintance doing what Amari did.
You don't need an ACL to practice free throws, now is as good a time as any to get better.

JQ passes the ball really good for a big man. He’s perfect for our offense

JQ and Dioubate are never allowed to touch the ball other than blocks or rebounding in the final 2 minutes of the game and if they rebound they have to snap pass it to a guard or SF . Their game play gets you excited then the FT shooting scares you more than Jason Vorhees' mom on Mothers day

Weaknesses: He has shooting touch out to the 3PT line but is far from a consistent threat to stretch the floor and can be too comfortable settling for quick 3s, rather than looking to get easier shot attempts. 3PT shooting: 24.3% 3PT% 1.9 3PTA OTE 2022-23, missed his only 3PT attempt over 6 games at the U16 Americas Championship in 2023, 10% 3PT% 0.9 3PTA Nike EYBL 2023 … While his stroke from the foul line doesn’t look bad, he can improve his free throw shooting: 56.5% FT% OTE 2022-23, 57.1% FT% U16 Americas Championship 2023, 61.5% FT% Nike EYBL 2023

More about his high school analysis here: https://www.nbadraft.net/players/jayden-quaintance/

Was hoping there'd be some hope for his shooting. Alas, twas none.

Here's hoping Pope and the rest of the staff can get him to figure out his 3pt shot and free throws. He looks like he's got a bit of a goofy stance and in his NCAA highlights, looks like he rushes shots instead of getting set. Here's hoping.

Awesome, I’ve never heard of someone being ready to play D1 sports in 6-7 months after ACL but if he can do it, it’s great for our team.

We won't be getting pushed around on the interior next season! I think after Pope experienced SEC basketball for a season, he realized he needed some physicality and not just finesse. But JQ still fits in well with Pope because the dude is a terrific passer.

One thing I want to bring up about the Quaintance family is how they handled the transition from Cal's Staff to Pope and they didn't immediately write off Pope. They showed respect and were open minded after Cal left. Know that Travis Graf is close with the family and he's always spoken in respectful manner of how they operate.

Hope this works out because there's nobody in the country more talented physically when healthy. The guy was/is a freak at his age for what he can do--it's far more than defense--he's got tremendous hands/passing/ball handling abilities for someone so young and he'll reunite with former Team Thad teammate Jasper Johnson at UK now.

Heal up big fella and love that Pope/Staff were willing to take a risk here. I'd have been hesitant but I respect those who are risk takers and what the staff is doing. Love the Portal addition/roster building so far!

1. Quantenance is a C all the way to me.....this along with Gwath flirtation tells me Pope not sold on Garrison as starting Center...
- Now is Garrison going to stay at UK....I tend to doubt and he'll transfer is my guess
- If this guy is slow to recover from ACL....UK may be screwed
2. The roster is shaping up

PG: Lowe/Lewis/Perry
SG: Maybe portal...or maybe it's Oweh at main SG with /Jasper/Chandler as depth
SF: Kam Williams/Oweh/Noah/Chandler
PF: Diabate/probably a portal sniper like Almonsor off bench....maybe a plan to beef up Noah and make his stretch PF
C: Quantenance/Moreno

I think that is our roster with maybe adding another wing scorer/shooter is my hunch.
