If we lose a ton of guys ( especially Lyles ) i could see us adding him but like we all the bigs who either favor us or have us in their top 2 ( Zimmerman , Diallo ect) it comes down to the NBA draft enterees .

Of course for me to have a theory in basketball it would have to be a dream. (Day dream likely.) If anyone listened to my theory they'd be moron's as far as basketball.

Did you say in another thread that you were living in Korea? I'm impressed!

I'm more optimistic about Jaylen than I think TJ is, but I think Jaylen depends on what happens with Trey Lyles. I like that fact that the UCLA/KU Adidas talk has died down and that Jaylen made the Jordan Brand game. That tells me that Adidas doesn't have him sewn up.

What is 100% obvious right now however is that the staff's No. 1 priority is Malik Newman, because they are sure that the Harrison's and Booker are gone. Jaylen is priority 2 based on what happens with Trey. Trey might decide to come back if he isn't a guaranteed lottery pick, and he is borderline right now.

In The frontcourt, the priority is Maker to replace WCS, with Bryant or Zimm being the backup plan if Dakari leaves.

There were only 2 guys that were "addidas" guys that made the Jordan Brand Classic, Brown and Doresy. Im sure Nike is covering there *** in case Brown does go Nike and ends up being the stud that he should be.

I am not even sure what that nonsense means . I know it doesn't mean Zimmerman is going to KU as that is not happening in Bill self's hair peice's wildest dream LOL. Zimmerman is UCLA or UK and IMO it is UK. Brown is IMO UCLA or UK and i think it just depends if Lyles and to a smaller extent Booker leaves.

This is per non-message board sources. It's adidias for both (per him).

Brown may end up at UCLA, but it's not a slam dunk by any stretch of the imagination...

I really like Ivan Rabb, but appears he is staying out west. I've seen Jaylen Brown live 5 games and he is definitely a Cal kind of player. Would LOVE to see him a Cat next year!

Nice theory, except that Zimmerman played for the Oakland Soldiers in the Nike EYBL this past spring and summer. Weird choice if Adidas is a big player in his recruitment.

Son_of_Saul, does your source feel good about either/both to UK? I can't get a read on either. I feel like Zimmerman loves attention/spotlight and Brown is the polar opposite, keeps a tight lip. Although when UK first started recruiting him, he seemed to be a lock.

Hey can we stop engaging people that come into recruiting threads with a few dozen posts and make definitive statements? Thanks guys.

Surprisingly. I'm hearing that North Carolina is a much bigger player for Brown than expected . Have NO idea why he would jump into that mess .

They're nearly identical except Brown wears his shorts higher.
I think that Brown plays and looks almost exactly like Johnson!

I hope that he's as good as Johnson and that he ends up at UK!

Yeah... why would ANY top player consider them? Maybe UNCheat has started a new you-don't-really-have-to-do-anything curriculum.

Yes, they are very similar. I would say that Brown shoots and rebounds at a higher clip than Johnson. They both can be lock down defenders at the 3 position, too. Both are exceptional athletes and they have a similar build.

SUPPOSEDLY, we have a better shot than most Dawg fans would believe. It's still hard for me to fathom, but there are a few well-connected posters who swear by it, as well as Dan McDonald. They're not saying he's definitely a Dawg or anything like that, but they say we're in deeper than any of us might think. Some even propose that it could be a two team race right now with UCLA being the other major player.

MY personal opinion is that you can't ever count Cal and the Cats out, but those are just some of the things I've heard.

I don't think Brown has even 'officially' visited Georgia or Tech for that matter.

What I don't agree on is the adidas theme.....it might have been that way for Shabazz and you heard a lot of noise about some accusations with Dad getting payback in advance.

For kids like Zimmerman and Brown, there's possibly a need to only play 1 year, then they can sign with any shoe deal, so not sure why that is considered a huge factor?

Like LeBron's free agency holding up the entire NBA, the top guys are waiting on Kentucky's season to end or they could go ahead and go to those other schools.

Seems to me like we could add as many as 4 more elite players.

I just don't get why a kid would go to a school because of the brand of shoes, etc. When I was that age they could have gone barefoot....was all about school, tradition, other players, coach, location, etc.

Well I for one hope he goes to Georgia if he doesn't pick Kentucky . I LOVED it when we had players in our conference like Dominique Wilkins , Charles Barkley , and Shaquille O'neil . It makes more fun . And that's what this is all about .

GemantownDawg, last night at church I had a long conversation with a Georgia fan who is in the know. He said basically the same thing you said in the comments I quote. Family may have a role in his decision and family prefers Georgia. I don't think his going to California to play for a mediocre program like UCLA is in the family's plans. I would not rule out Calipari either and playing in Lexington makes a lot more sense than his going to UCLA.

Jaylen is a great player. No question about that.

That's also what I've heard - that distance COULD play a major factor in his decision. If that was the case, I would have a tendency to believe that Europe may not be in the cards for him. I would love to be able to have this kid in Athens, but Fox just doesn't have a good track record with highly sought after players. That's why I'm not holding my breath. But there are decently credible rumors that we're not in terrible shape.

It's all about how "good" the shoe companies have been to the player and his AAU programs . You think if an AAU team is sponsored by Adidas that the coach of that team is going to try to steer him to a college that is also sponsored by Adidas ? Hell yes . You think said AAU coach will be rewarded for steering the kid to the Adidas college ?
