#7 Monticello 3A (6-0, 3-0 Jefferson) @ #6 Louisa County 4A (6-0, 3-0 Jefferson)
Here it is! People began to wonder if Monticello's success was due to an easy schedule, and anticipated them to fall eventually. But no! The Mustangs kept on winning, and now it is a battle of unbeatens in the jungle Friday night! Louisa has had nobody even close to them this year, and the defense has been superb. Let's look at the common opponents. Louisa won at Western 22-8. The defense played great and it was an all around solid game. Monticello won 34-10. Similar defenseive effort, right? But then you look at the Albemarle games. Louisa won 41-12, and Monticello won 49-33. That defense looks a bit suspect for the Mustangs. Look for Kevin Jarrell to try to eat up the Louisa safeties, he threw for 275 yards last week. I see Whalen having a huge game this week, picking his way through that Mustang D. I've got Louisa, 38-31.
#19 Charlottesville 4A (5-1, 3-0 Jefferson) @ #24 Albemarle 5A (2-4, 1-2 Jefferson)
This one is gonna be packed! Although the hype won't be as big as the 'Cello Louisa game, it's still Albemarle's homecoming and they're gonna be looking to pick up some more momentum after that win over Orange. Albemarle's defense takes on that nasty triple option offense for my Black Knights. Albemarle QB J'Quan Anderson accounted for 5 touchdowns last week. Charlottesville put up 76 points, and that core of Neale, Folley, Durrett, and Davis looks near impossible to stop. Expect a close, back and forth game. Charlottesville 35-28.
Fluvanna County 3A (2-3, 0-3 Jefferson) @ Powhatan 4A (1-5, 1-2 Jefferson)
Here's the battle for the bottom if you ask me. Powhatan has had a touch schedule, and will reap the benefits of this one. Fluvanna is gonna come out firing, but expect Powhatan to move to 2-2 in the district. Powhatan 35-17.
Orange County 5A (3-3, 1-2 Jefferson) @ #19 Western Albemarle 3A (1-5, 0-3 Jefferson)
It's Western's homecoming and look for them to really want this one. Orange sputtered a bit against Albemarle and blew a late lead. Western has had the toughest schedule in the district, with Botty, Collegiate, Louisa and Monticello. Still, that Powhatan loss is revealed a lot. Orange is better than some people think, but I think Western finally gets something going. Western 28-21.
