I don't know and don't care. But since you brought it up I assuming not great.

Gill didn't play at Louisville and was not good here until he was injured. Moses Ayegba (Abraham) was the exact same player at Nebraska as he was Georgetown.

So I guess there's a 50/50 shot that Palmer or Copeland will be better than they were at their previous school.

The Miles defenders have pointed out how highly rated many of the Miles transfers were coming out of high school. Of course, virtually none of them was very good in college pre-Nebraska -- and while White turned into a decent player after transferring here, he couldn't wait to transfer out at that point.

I have to respectfully completely disagree with the assessment of Watson. I thought he was terrible. He was always late, couldn't keep anyone in front of him, played of to the side, let people drive, extremely poor footwork was his downfall.
Agree on all accounts, although I will say that he would do a better job of staying in his stance, if he didn't have to play so many minutes and have so much expected of him on the offensive end. Another thing to note on Watson and especially Evan Taylor is poor defense in transition. Ball-you-man. Not just finding your man and letting a different opponent make a layup.

There was a stretch during the season where I thought our defensive transition was as bad as I've ever seen a Husker team. And it's especially bad when you think about how often Miles played three guards in the lineup (who are supposed to run faster back on defense) and the fact that sometimes only one Husker even tried to get an offensive rebound. That's a pure lack of effort, folks. Either you bust your butt to get a board or you sprint back on defense. Anything else is cheating the game.

I guess I didn't realize Nebraska was a good defensive team with or without Horne. Who were the shut down wing defenders on this team?

This team was consistently late on rotations, blame Molinari if you want to, but most of poor perimeter defense was due to lack of focus and hustle. So for whatever reason, they accepted it from the sophomores but not the freshmen?

It's early. I'm sure there will be more departures.
Well said. To me, the poor defense is on Miles first and foremost. There was a stretch where Miles chose to ride Watson and Webster 35-38 minutes a game if he could and had Evan Taylor playing 30. That was unsustainable. Taylor should have played much less at the 3 and backed up Watson & Webster to keep them from getting so worn down. Again, check out defensive stats in the last 5-10 minutes of the last 10 or so Big 10 games (if such stats exist). The effort and concentration level was poor. Fatigue makes cowards of us all. Miles needed to play someone more minutes at the 3 spot... anyone.... to free up Taylor to be a part of a three man guard rotation in the middle of each half.

Watching the Zags. Can anyone tell me why Miles did not recruit SDSU's Mike Daum? I see he is from Kimball. He has size, he can shoot and he can play the game

Because coming out of high school it didn't look like he would be a D-1 player. His parents were both Wyoming alum scholarship athletes and Wyoming pulled his offer. Creighton, CSU, KState, Creighton etc ALL passed on Daum. Even SDSU questioned if he would ever play for them. So why should have Mile's offered him. BTW, he's almost totally been shut down today so far.

The explanations range from:

Miles is a total dumbass who intentionally ignored Daum just to piss off any western Nebraska fans who might still have a passing interest in NU basketball,

to:

Daum couldn't even tie his own shoelaces until his second (or third!) year of college, and SDSU almost cut him from the team before he suddenly sold his soul to the Devil, who magically transformed him into the best player in his conference.

So take your pick. But whatever explanation you choose, be sure to post it repeatedly and use lots of CAPITAL LETTERS so your argument will carry more weight.

I'm really hoping he decides after next year that he wants to be the one to break the Nebrasketball curse, and comes here in 2018-2019 as a graduate transfer. Him, Watson, Morrow, Tshimanga, Copeland, etc. (and probably a new coach) lead us to our first NCAA tournament win.

Thanks for the info. Zags were not hitting their shots, today, but this Bulldog team can play D. not sure Daum plays against this talent too often.

Thanks for the info. I think all Nebraska coaches make a mistake when they ignore a Nebraska kid. How much worse could have Daum been than the last man Miles offered a scholarship to his senior year?
