Star running back or not, Les Miles has to punish this man. Leaving the fate of a player on his teammates is unfair and the decision will always be in favor of the player.
Les needs to grow a backbone hear and quit hiding behind the players. He is the head football coach. This is ridiculous.

Hill is in the purple LSU gear.

Agreed. But there again, I've never thought Les Miles was worth a f*ck as a coach EXCEPT in how he handles his team. It seems he always has them ready to play ball, no matter how many Croomtastic decisions he makes.

However, disciplinary issues generally spell the end. I suspect LSU will crash and burn soon.

That is by far the most important thing that a coach can do is get his team ready to play and to play hard on every snap. And Les Miles is one of the best in the country at that.

Agree that he's making a mistake with Hill.

So was Houston Nutt. Croom was actually pretty good at it, at times. I'd say it's about 25%, along with recruiting, gameday decisions and preparation. Recruiting may be a little bigger than 25%, probably near 40-50%.

Then how do explain Arkansas under petrino? They never recruited very well, but still won 10 games. I think preparation is up there esp if the coach can really prepare

I'd say Arkansas recruited pretty damn well. It just so happened that because of Petrino's system, they players he needed didn't necessarily have to be the same type athletes that LSU, Bama, and UGA relied upon. But they were still classes that most people outside of the SEC would have thought were good.

How do I explain it? I do it easily:

#1) Petrino at Arkansas was out-matched by the truly talented teams (Auburn/Alabama 2010 and Alabama/LSU 2011). Even after he got 'his' players in the door.

#2) Petrino didn't recruit well according to whom? Scout.com? Bwa ha ha. Certain types of players respond to certain types of coaches. He got many good players in there, but at the end of the day, he couldn't get the talent he needed to win the whole thing. A big chunk of that is on the school rather than the coach.

Houston Nutt teams played hard? I know a lot of Rebel fans who would disagree with you on that. I'll give you Croom, but he was so terrible in other aspects of the game it didn't really matter how hard his players played.

Wrong, dude. This was Nutt's M.O. He was very good at this during his time in Arkansas and really up until that Arkansas game in 2011.

If you want me to explain what happened to him at Ole Miss, here goes. He wanted a better job after 2009 (and really 2008) and didn't recruit. It didn't happen, so he was scrambling in 2010 and 2011. And if he hadn't lost to Jax State, he'd have probably been OK. Nutt and the team quit in 2011, so don't try and use that as rationale.

He'll get another job soon, and he'll be successful.

So he's great at getting his teams/players ready to play except for those years where his team/players were completely unprepared and unmotivated to play...

1998-2009 = 12 years
2010-2011 = 2 years

Get out of here with that weak crap. He actually motivated the teams well in those last two years until his resignation was announced, just didn't have the talent due to some weak recruiting. If you can comprehend that then I've got nothing for you. I explained this adequately enough for even the latest of idiots.

He didn't recruit well in 2009 and that sent them instantly from a 9 win team to a 3 or 4 (can't remember) win team in 2010? They must have really been expecting to get a lot out of some true freshmen.

he'll get a job........

probably at one of the New Mexico schools. Isn't that where washed-up coaches usually go? I'm sure his new team will play hard as it goes 0-12.

Orgeron signed a weak class in 2007, Nutt signed a weak class in 2008. That will doom most programs.

He actually scrambled together a highly ranked class in 2009 when he didn't get a job after 2008, but that fell apart too. He didn't do his homework.

That, and his terrible handling of Jevan Snead, sent them from a 9 win team to a 4 win team. But they were more than likely capable of 6 to 7 wins in 2010.
