I did not know that Walsh once had a 3,300 seat capacity. The on-campus gym takes a lot of abuse on this site but Jerry seems to speak affectionately of it.

Been to the old Walsh many times and the new one can't be but a fraction of what it was back in the day! New isn't always better in this case.

Shaheen coaches like he’s still in the MAAC and it needs to stop.

Ridiculous mindset for a guy that was a NYC All American in high school and assistant coach for a long time in the Big East

There’s something to be said about college hoops in college gyms. It’s really what the game is supposed to be about. It just doesn’t work for Seton Hall because Walsh is so small, and we are supposed to be a high major playing for NCAA bids.

Yes, the Bonnie’s with Lanier, Niagara with Calvin Murphy, PC with Walker, Syracuse, even Detroit with Dick Vitale as HC who had to be taken to the hospital after a close loss to the Hall in front of 4000 fans in 3300 seat Walsh.

I have a pretty strong sentimental attachment to Walsh as well, having spent 9 years on campus between the Prep and the U. However, Walsh as a Big East arena is woefully inadequate and radiates vibes of "small time".

Great memories, particularly the Bonnies game and John Suminski's outstanding performance.

Right there with you. And let's not forget guys like Sonny Sunkett, Al Senavitis, Richie Dec, Charlie Mitchel, Terry Morawski and Bill Somerset.

Love me some Walsh memories in the mid 70's. Nothing better as a fan or as a broadcaster in the boxes "high" above the court. Nothing better. Pre Big East - ECAC hoops. What epic battles. Love the Big East but the games in those years oh so many years ago will always be near and dear.
