What is the staff doing to get Hines in shape?.was he on campus all summer? He needsa little tough love to light a fire umder him . He'll be squandering a lot of opportunities if he doesn't take care of his body. Hey.... he's getting paid now.... no excuse.
New trainer this year. The guy who got Powell in shape and got Rhoden bulked up is gone.

He wasn’t signed until mid August. Wasn’t on campus until September? He missed the entire summer.

We talk about Hines like he was a top 25/30 recruit. He was top 70. He’s still learning. It takes time especially for young big men.

And certain teams like Creighton and X play five out. That’s not a good match up for him when he has to chase guys around the perimeter. Plodding Gtown was perfect for Hines.

This is a serious issue, even for a Holloway supporter like myself.
Money talks, clearly, but everyone who liked the above post is a Sha supporter like yourself. It’s an obvious issue.

And for a kid like Hines, add what other coaches will sell him on the player development front. Here is “X” big man that I took and now look what he became.

Well we do have a 7'2" kid on the bench who was given a ship and should be able to run up and down the court and even clog up the post on D for a few minutes. Geeze he can't be that dysfunctional. I saw him play in the last few minutes of some of the early games and he has some knowledge of the game.

He knows when a shot is missed he can grab the rebound...at least that is something? And we miss a lot!

Sha is clearly a control freak. So are most college coaches, each in his own way. Sha is more blatant about it than most and it's often not pretty.
He can be rough and the playing style matches. I wonder how it impacts free agency, if at all.

Payne isn’t some gazelle out there. Particularly with a bad ankle. The freshman wall concern is legitimate, except for the fact that he’s been our best big man for the entire season, and particularly so during conference play.

And that’s not a knock on Payne, who has been excellent for most of the season. It’s just that Hines is one of the most impactful players in the conference. He can’t be playing low teens and single digit minutes, regardless of matchup.

I always thought trainers treated injuries & the strength & conditioning coach was in charge of what his title implies.
