Funny stuff. Not so much that he chose Virginia Tech as his upset pick of the week, but I’m not sure where he’s getting that they have more offensive playmakers than us based on the first 2 weeks of play. Hopefully we don’t make him look like a genius.

My take is their best chance of beating us (by far) is with their defense forcing Gavin to make bad decisions.

His Twitter bio explains it. Seems Purdue and NW have little man complex with the "new" team on the block that they did not want in the conference.

He didn't say Va. Tech has more offensive playmakers than Rutgers. He said the Hokies have more playmakers than RU has faced so far, which is probably true. But I agree, he's generally an ***.

Agree, we lose if they force Wimsatt into mistakes and we are unable to run the ball. Certainly plausible

Also did not do his homework as many of the VT “playmakers” will be on the sidelines with injuries

And those playmakers are either out for the game or playing hurt. Let's face it, Palm is an @ss, no matter how you look at it.

Yes - correct. The jab at RU isn’t the prediction itself. It’s the comment about their offensive playmakers vs ours. They are likely down their top 2 wide outs, their top TE, and coming off a game where their run game was in the negative column until a QB run on the last drive with Purdue playing prevent defense to eat clock. Also might not have their starting QB.

If the offensive playmakers they have available on offense are better than ours we are in huge trouble.

Those playmakers were available against Old Dominion and didn't set the world on fire. Palm is the problem when perception is driving the narrative.

He said they have more weapons offensively than what we’ve seen so far. I have no doubt they will have the best defense that we’ve faced, as will we for them.

Through 2 games, their offense seems similar to our first two opponents though in my opinion. No run game to speak of. Now down their top 2 receivers and starting QB banged up. Not seeing that.

IDK about them having more weapons offensively.
Most importantly, EJ Warner is a better QB than the Purdue QB.

I don't think there is anything particularly snarky about what he said. He made a prediction for a game with a close point spread from another power 5 conference, and he could be right. It's not like he's predicting Wagner to upset us.

I reserve my media aggravation for the reporters who twist the facts to intentionally paint a negative picture of Rutgers - we've seen enough of them over the years. We had the clown who wrote in the Athletic who ignored basic financial and said that we were "the worst realignment move," and years ago the New York Times said that UConn with their non-AAU status and their way off-campus stadium deserved a Big Ten invitation over us. When a journalist ignores basic factual information, even when giving an opinion, that's not just fake news - that's intentional deception.

Wow. The lack of reading comprehension is astounding.
Since many seem to have issues reading, here is what was wrote:

Rutgers is 2-0 to start the season thanks to wins at home over Northwestern and Temple. The Hokies lost to Purdue at home last week after a five-and-a-half hour rain delay. It is hard to put too much stock in a game played under such unusual circumstances. Virginia Tech has more weapons offensively than the Scarlet Knights have seen so far.

NW: Did they have any offensive weapons?
Temple: I guess Warner? I'm not sure how much of a weapon he is though since he can't run.

I don't know anything about VT but the bar to have more offensive weapons is 1.
Not really groundbreaking analysis.

You do realize Palm never had a kind word for Rutgers. Even when he's trying to be fair, he throws back hand compliments.

I think I understand where Palm is coming from. The line opened -4.5 and quickly climbed to -6.5. A popular betting idea is to go against the crowd, so Palm has zagged with his prediction.

Jerrys gotta earn a living right? but his upset...

if Stats are a reflection of yer team, we are gonna win this one going away.
After seeing the post of Doug Bowman on "X" such as the one below.

42.1% of VT running plays were stuffed at or behind the line of scrimmage vs Purdue. Second worst in the country ahead of only Akron (46.1%)

I do not agree with the statement that he only picked VT with the points. If he was only taking the points it would not be an upset, just a selection of a team with the points. The article called the pick "The Upset of the Week", no? A team covering is not an upset hence my belief he is picking VT to win.

Correct - the bar is one. Not one stud. it would have to be one position player who is more of a weapon than NW or Temple have. Looking at their roster, I’m not sure who that would be.

For perspective, Cam Porter almost has as many rushing yards (98) on 23 carries as VTech has collectively as a team (120) on 65 carries.

If he didn’t have the word offense in there, I wouldn’t say anything. I want to throw Shelby off a cliff but at this point it’s not unreasonable to be concerned about how our offense handles the step up in talent in the defensive trenches. I get that but don’t see it on the other side of the ball.

The guy picked every favorite....except for the Va. Tech-Rutgers game.

Tell you what.. that TKR vlog with the VTech Rivals guy... have to say, it would be quite an upset should VTech win. I suspect our offense would have to implode. We saw that last year, but I hope those days are behind us for good. This looks like 10+ win to me.

Looks like he is using the spread.. and some of those spreads are huge.. so picking favorites really doesn't mean much. Still.. VTech+6.5... nah.. we should win by 7 or more easy... this game means more to us as our path to 6 wins and a bowl is very important and a very difficult path. We absolutely need this win.

I will be very disappointed in the TEAM if we don’t win on Saturday. They have an opportunity here against a football program we have not beaten since that dreary, damp day way back in 1992. This will come down to our O line and QB play who must continue to improve and develop. It’s not only talent and depth now but Rutgers believing it is the better team on Saturday. I ‘m banking on these players, just as I did back in 2005 , to do something special not next year or the year after but now in 2023. GO RU!!!!!

The more I read up on them, I worry about a low-scoring, close ugly game and one mistake or fluke play decides the outcome. Hopefully we're on the right side of that play. Their D is better than what we have faced. That said, it sounds as if they have OL issues, which is a good thing for our D.

This is a bit of revisionist history regarding Temple. Going into the game we were told that the combination of Warner, the RB Saydee and the transfer WR Wright were going to present challenges to us. Were those guys overrated or do we have a good defense? I guess we'll find out.

Rewatching the game I think this was all correct. They were able to move the ball at times and Warner made some completions under very serious duress. I'll be interested to see if they have good offence this year. If RU is as good I think it is, they will be good on O.

After 2 games I think the signs point to good defense. The O is still a question mark.
