30 bowls kinda means the top 60 teams go to a bowl. To me that's ridiculous. 20 bowls rewards the top 40; isn't that enough? I also like the idea of letting ALL teams have another 2 weeks to practice for the next season even if they're not going to a bowl game.

Well there is 42 bowls now, so 30 would be a big reduction. Teams in bowls would almost all have winning records with very few 6-6 teams.

There has to be a balance between deserving teams and entertainment. I guess everybody has there idea of where that should be.

Last year there were some great football games in bowls between teams with so-so records, including our win over UNC. Some a lot more interesting than a couple of the playoff games. A lot more teams play postseason basketball.

I do wonder about the time commitment for the players. It really extends the season. I wonder if most players would want to play in a bowl if they had a 5-7 season, or whether they'd be ready for a break.

It is unavoidable with this many bowls. Who would decide which bowls have to be cancelled because there aren't teams with six wins to invite? Those are real cities, hotels, sponsors etc expecting these games to be played and bring fans and TV cameras to town.

And while I absolutely want us to win at least six games, if we only make it to five and 5-7 teams are in bowl games, you're darn right I want Rutgers to be one of those teams.

I have zero desire to see my team play in a bowl game they in now way deserve, or have earned, at 5-7. I'll watch, I'll root, I'll be happy if we win, but no thanks.
I feel this way too. I actually hope that if we get invited at 5-7 that Flood turns it down. The practice thing is overblown. 10 practices, 9 months before the next game is played, with two months of practices in the interim, makes almost no difference. And the experience of playing a 6-6 Sun Belt team won't be much either. Its not ever like we would have a shot at a winning season - we would just be in shape to have a slightly less losing season.

Count me out. It's a participation trophy. I just got rid of my son's that he accumulated through the years and don't want any more -- even on the TV.

I wouldn't make the time to watch it at 5-7 (or even at 6-6). It would just be a happy accident if I did.

I hate these crappy teams in bowls as much as anybody, but it's not changing until ESPN loses money on these games. Boycott the sponsors, issue angry tweets but stop debating it. It is what it is.

And if there are eight 5-7 teams with an APR higher than ours, I'll eat my keyboard.

Oh my god, more football to watch; I can't take this anymore!! Somebody please remove the toothpicks propping my eyelids open. Every December-January, there are just more games to watch. Oh the horrors. I would much rather watch more quality reality TV like fat people competing to lose weight or something like that.
