I Have been disappointed with Jim............

He is not getting excited at all. He is making these calls with no enthusiasm as if we are beating Jackson State in a mid week game, not winning games in the World Series.

Disagree... that's typical Jim Ellis, to me. None of these plays are Burke Masters worthy, I think. He still sounded pretty damn excited when Porter hit the shot to right... but at the time, the game was far from over.

He's auditioning for the Biloxi Crabs AA team...in his retirement years and no longer cares.

There is a certain inflection in Jim's voice on big moment calls. Almost like he's trying not to show emotion but it still comes thru. He is the absolute best when it comes to college baseball...

I just figured he is trying to clinch a turd while he speaks. I know if I was commentating I would probably be jobless after the Virginia series. I've dropped more 17 bombs the last 2 weeks than I have all year. I respect Jim being able to maintain himself while bulldog nation goes bald watching the cardiac dawgs

Maybe we can pry Jeff Brantley out of the Reds' broadcast booth (from 1:30 on).

On Porter's hit that's about as much emotion as I've ever heard from Jim. He actually sounded excited.

If anyone has ever met Jim Ellis

He is actually very soft spoken and reserved, so it's not too surprising that he is that way on the radio.

Jim is a broadcasting Stradivarius - you can keep Kellum and those AU football game-calling clowns! Bart seems to be picking up the MSU tradition as well.

Jim is a very quiet guy by nature. Super nice, but he's never had much to say when I've been around him.

Spot on.

There is a certain inflection in Jim's voice on big moment calls. Almost like he's trying not to show emotion but it still comes thru. He is the absolute best when it comes to college baseball...

He does his damnedest not to get too emotional when he makes calls, but it's still obvious where his heart is.
