Do you ever post good things about Starkville or Mississippi State University? If so I missed it.
I post the truth. The truth hurts sometimes.

Starkville is one of the main reasons Mississippi State cannot thrive.

But this is about John Bond's post. He loves Mississippi State just as I do. Can't stand what is happening.

Starkville itself is very Liberal. Liberal mayor, liberal alderman, etc. Mississippi State is not very active in their TPUSA is not very active. They’ve had a chapter since 2016. My son was a member.. he graduated in 24…he said they never had meetings and there weren’t many people involved. Maybe you could help change that?

I'll spare you my true feelings on this, but Bond is right. Ole Miss looked really good last night to a lot of families.

Students from Starkville went to this event. What’s the big deal? I could care less about politics when I was in school. I was to busy enjoying life having the time of my life. Sounds to me like Oxford is home to a bunch of Nerds.
Also, Oxford, State, and UM are customers of mind. Oxford is very left leaning.

If you think Oxford and Ole Miss is some bastion of conservatism you’re very misinformed.

She must have not spent a lot of time in Oxford. Oxford is 20 times more left leaning than Starkville.

The CD is growing, we broke ground on a fantastic new hotel adjacent to campus, building a brand new HS….downtown is getting a huge re-do, and for all the crap Spruill caught on the sign ordinance (that wasn’t hers) It’s much better but yeah, let’s get upset that people couldn’t stand in line for 3 hours to hear a politician.

Sounds to me like Spruill is a good mayor. I honestly couldn't care less what party a local politician as long as they get things done. She seems to be doing just that,

This was scheduled some time ago and the purpose was to go around college campuses to engage in respectful debate to hopefully open eyes around the country? So maybe the original thought was ole Miss was a place that needed offered up a good opportunity for that for whatever reason. I don’t know, but obviously the event last night wasn’t what was originally planned.

Hell yeah with gun from moving vehicle at 4 in the morning during football season. Something like 40 lights the story went.
40 lights from a moving vehicle (assuming alcohol was involved)? Are you sure it wasn't a Q-Beam they were shooting?

I’m still at a loss, what the hell did Starkville do wrong? I am so tired of everything being someone did everything right and someone else did everything completely wrong. Not every damn thing that happens is a battlefield on the culture war.

We all wish Starkville had say, 100K folks, a few more big employers, and a great public school. But reality is what it is, and has been that way for a while. Most people agree (well, all, unless you're stupid) that it has come an long way over the last 20 years. So that is nothing new.

What SPECIFICALLY are you and Bond so knowledgeable about? What is actively and intentionally holding Starkville back that you chose to call it out today?

Are you saying that Spruill is a lib and doesn't want conservative events like this?

Are you saying the public school sucks?

Are you just jealous of Oxford?

What?

Was in Oxford last night. They had it streaming in every bar I stopped at minus the library.
Couldn’t get away from it. My feelings are well known but Oxford was dialed in on that last night

Oxford is most certainly not left-leaning unless your entire life occurs within the state of Mississippi.

I assume Bond and 615 are thinking that since this event was held in Oxford, that it somehow reflects poorly on us? That's how I'm reading it.

In reality, as someone else said, this was scheduled a long time ago on Charlie's tour of college campuses, so JD and Erika took his place on the podium. TPUSA basically goes around to colleges and holds events, and I'm sure when they looked in Mississippi, they chose the school or town that's historically more politically charged than the other. From the James Meredith stuff and historically racist flags and logos, their domination of state political offices until just the past decade or two, and all the way up through 2008 when I think they hosted a presidential debate between Obama and McCain (or Romney?), Oxford leans into stuff like this. We all know they crave publicity. So they go and get it. Not that big a deal that it was in oxford, although I would have liked to hear those speakers personally.

Ole Miss had a 90 minute infomercial on national TV, with the VP of the United States engaging in conversation with student questions. But yeah, no big deal.***
