The CD is growing, we broke ground on a fantastic new hotel adjacent to campus, building a brand new HS….downtown is getting a huge re-do, and for all the crap Spruill caught on the sign ordinance (that wasn’t hers) It’s much better but yeah, let’s get upset that people couldn’t stand in line for 3 hours to hear a politician.
The sign ordinance is pretty standard if you leave the Golden Triangle. Other than the Strange Brew fiasco, Starkville looks a lot better without the signs like that.

According to one of the replies. (don't know how to copy tweets)

Starkville itself is very Liberal. Liberal mayor, liberal alderman, etc. Mississippi State is not very active in their TPUSA is not very active. They’ve had a chapter since 2016. My son was a member.. he graduated in 24…he said they never had meetings and there weren’t many people involved. Maybe you could help change that?

Yeah the present administration in local government wouldn't ever let that happen here.

Oxford is most certainly not left-leaning unless your entire life occurs within the state of Mississippi.
It is the most left in the State. Most people that live there take pride in it. They see themselves as the educated. I travel a lot for work and have lived in NOLA and Atlanta. Oxford has a lot higher view of themselves than those cities.

Ole Miss had a 90 minute infomercial on national TV, with the VP of the United States engaging in conversation with student questions. But yeah, no big deal.***
Let them lose to SoCar this weekend and everyone will go back to not giving a shitt.

I would bet money this does nothing for registration. Honestly football is more important than this event. Also, Trump/Vance are not the most popular guys in the nation. You are alienating at least 50% of the country.

I assume Bond and 615 are thinking that since this event was held in Oxford, that it somehow reflects poorly on us? That's how I'm reading it.

In reality, as someone else said, this was scheduled a long time ago on Charlie's tour of college campuses, so JD and Erika took his place on the podium. TPUSA basically goes around to colleges and holds events, and I'm sure when they looked in Mississippi, they chose the school or town that's historically more politically charged than the other. From the James Meredith stuff and historically racist flags and logos, their domination of state political offices until just the past decade or two, and all the way up through 2008 when I think they hosted a presidential debate between Obama and McCain (or Romney?), Oxford leans into stuff like this. We all know they crave publicity. So they go and get it. Not that big a deal that it was in oxford, although I would have liked to hear those speakers personally.
This is the correct answer. It goes back to the protest last year. Charlie’s business model was driven by clicks. What gets clicks? Someone on the left going crazy in a debate with him.

I post the truth. The truth hurts sometimes.

Starkville is one of the main reasons Mississippi State cannot thrive.

But this is about John Bond's post. He loves Mississippi State just as I do. Can't stand what is happening.
What is happening that is so bad?

“JD Vance and TPUSA were at Ole Miss today, I’m sending my kids there.”

Are people really this shallow? If they are then their kids can go there.
OM got positive press nationwide for being a university willing to host an organization who speaks a positive and Christian message and your response is to call people shallow for this, potentially, being a reason to choose OM as a school of choice? Absolutely moronic

I'm actually thinking this hurts OM more than helps.

What self-respecting libtard parent would send their nerd kid there now?
