John Calipari to Bama?

This is probably just message board talk but it is something interesting to think about. If Alabama was very serious about winning and threw a TON of money at him, I could see where he'd be swayed. That said, I think he is comfortable in Memphis going undefeated in C-USA and getting a three seed every year.

I doubt that would happen considering Nike just gave him a nice amount of money and became the official brand of the university. I think the perks at Memphis far outweigh anything Bama would be willing to do for a basketball coach. Just sayin' man.

bama pitching that much money at their baskeball program, right now.
like dgsmith said, calipari just signed the nike deal, and he is a semi-god up there.

not impossible, but unlikely...

Calipari is in the best place possible. Memphis can attract the top talent in the country, hell Memphis has plenty anyway. CUSA is easy to navigate and he gets the benefit of being seeded high no matter the SOS. Why would he go to Bama with the pressure they put on coaches. He would actually have to worry about Conf play.

I completely agree about the pros and cons. As for the Nike contract, if he leaves during the life of the deal, the amount of money to Memphis nearly gets cut in half I think.

Bama just doesn't care about basketball like they do football, and I doubt that will ever change. I don't think Bama wants to get into an annual bidding war between Saban and Calipari.

Plus, Memphis is a basketball school. They could possibly win a bidding war with Bama in basketball.

I think Bama will just hire the flavor of the month from this year's NCAA tournament.

That wouldn't quite be like a football coach making the reverse move, but it wouldn't be too far from it. And I really doubt Bama will throw more money at him that Memphis has or will.

I lived in memphis... there is no comparison to the two programs... in basketball, memphis can compete with anybody for the bucks.....

even though I don't care for the program because I grew to hate their bitter fans, but bamer has no chance at their coach

There have been several schools that have come calling with lots of money and he didn't leave. Memphis will match any offer given to him.

there is no reason for him to leave. I don't remember where I heard about memphis going to the big east though, so that could just be a stupid rumor.</p>

especially since Memphis has very low standards for admission which allows Calipari to bring in any talent he can get without the concern or the players academics.

Don't be so damn stupid. Cal is not going to bama.
