Look, baseball is a crazy game.It's a streaky game. It's a long season. It's one that will make you look stupid as a prognosticator sometimes. I had my doubts when it was 5-10 in SEC, don't get me wrong....but the only thing I questioned Cohen on was some of his pitching changes..but there is method to his madness.....and you gotta give the intense bastard credit for 1 thing....he has a knack for getting his team to play balls-out down the stretch....2 years in a row.

I'm sold. I want CJC to retire here. And I suspect that is what he would want. And I want the administration to step up to do all they can to set us down that path. Danny Mullen has gotten everything he wants, and deservedly so. When the dust has settled on the DWS expansion, time to start working down the intense bastard's to-do list;
I am very happy with what Cohen has accomplished to this point. He's set us up to have success longterm, and it's already starting to pay off this year, with the cards in place to really have a run.
That said, I will NEVER support basically giving these guys a retirement clause. We should learn from the mistakes with Polk. I want him here for as long as he's building and successful. I don't want him here for 5 years after the program stagnates redividing the fanbase and killing off fan support

In essence I agree with you, but what I am saying is that he has earned the investment from the administration at this point. I have never been, nor will I ever be one of these "coach over the program" people - ever. But I think this is Cohen's dream job. I think he wants to, and is returning MSU to national prominence, and deserves the recognition for that.

Now lord knows circumstances change and so do people, but I simply cannot imagine Cohen ever resting on his laurels or believing his **** smells like roses. He's just not wired like Polk or even Stan's. He's just a competitor. And given the circumstances with which he entered into the job, I can NEVER imagine him pulling a Polk on us.
If the intense bastard starts mailing it in, losing games where he is an easy favorite, or simply expecting top recruits to swim to the boat, my guess is he will take a step back - look hard at himself, and say something like " this ******** effort is unacceptable and simply not good enough - time to step aside."

...Was to make them mentally tougher than anybody else. To do that, he had to get rid of Polk's leftovers (the Forrest Moore's of the world) and get a bunch of young guys to buy in. I think he deserves a ton of credit on that and that so far outweighs the little in game decisions that we sometimes disagree with.
