John O'Korn just got an offer. Guess we will part ways with Dobbs.

Would have been much nicer to get either one before they were firm with another school and before we only had 2 QBs on the roster.

Hopefully, Mullen can work some last minute magic here.

Everything that I have read says O'Korn was holding out for this offer, we just wanted to wait on Dobbs. I hope that's true, because that's somebody that really wants to be here. See soon enough.

offer from us ? .... which one seemed to be the better player ? .... also saw where Sandberg is projected high in the draft ... he was quoted as saying he would know whether he was playing football or baseball within a few days after the draft

No, he got an offer from Central Florida, I just thought you'd like to know.

yeah - stupid question, I figured that out after posting ... and I can rationalize the fact that we probably offered the better prospect ... sometimes I require a little patience along with my brain farts

Pulled up his highlights on YouTube and he looks impressive. High school team looks like it ran spread and he looked mobile running read option. Hope we land him

So, we have a very good chance of siging the First and Second Team 7A Florida All State QBs in one class. Interesting. O'Korn was First Team and Cord was Second.

They faced each other this season. Couldn't read article on 247 to see who "out shined" the other

We only have 2 qb's. We need him even if Cord comes. Golden left the team.

I am not certain Dan is "sure"; but we have to take two QBs in this class because of the remote possibility that Cord signs with a MLB team. It seems as though Dan and the Sandberg family are all on the same page with respect to this.

Is this telling that Dan feels sure Cord will play baseball instead?

No. This is simply protecting ourselves in the event that he does -- something we ABSOLUTELY have to do on this cycle.

We ALSO offered and have an OV coming this weekend from Jason Smith(Auburn wr commit). He's a highschool dual threat QB that won the Alabama MVP @ WR in the MS/ALA all-star game. In a way, I could REALLY get behind this pick up -- because I feel better about actually getting Sandberg than most here. This pickup would protect us at the QB position if Sandberg doesn't make it to campus -- while not completely wasting a scholarship on someone else at the position if he does decide to play football. With this guy, you just move him to WR(where he is a stud) and keep on trucking...

Before anyone asks, I have NO IDEA how this effects our recruitment of O'Korn... May still be a "first to commit" thing -- or we may go hard after them both. No clue honestly...

Seems that I read that he was good academically too ...

4.2 GPA which means he was taking advanced placement courses. We could really use someone like him.

Gotta wonder though ... if he's the best 7A player in Florida (is that the largest category there ... or a small one?) why he's only a 3-star. Doesn't matter to me ... I'd still like to have him.

Where are you seeing that he is visiting? And on the QB deal, this guy will play WR at the next level, guaranteed. High level talent.

we really need to sign a 2nd QB in this class even if Cord does stick with us.

That is telling. I really like the fact that Cord and O'Korn would be a good fit for our offense. They both seem to be mobile enough to be very effective, where we have been lacking in that area with Tyler.

If there was any indication whatsoever that O'Korn was interested in us, I'd say this is good news. I like Paul, but I just don't buy what any recruitnik says on their message board as gospel. Not saying they are wrong, they very well may be right, but until the articles come out, it's all speculation to me. I've been hearing about Dobbs forever and I never saw a speck of interest from him. O'Korn just told Wisconsin no thanks about 12 hours ago.

Edited: He did just tweet that he was blessed to receive an offer from MSU. Right above where he said Go Coogs. This is a longshot to me.

I would think an SEC offer would trump any of the other schools on his list. Apparently Syracuse wants him too.

Some of you are reading way into the 4.2 thing. He probably has good grades, but I remember "the great one" Nick Ray's YouTube video saying he had a 4.0.

If Nick Ray had a 4.0, I got into Harvard but decided to come to MSU.

I like O'Korn. Seems like a legit Mullen prospect. Looks like a linebacker.

Lowery has it up officially on Rivals -- and Paul confirmed it last night.

He looks like a much, much better prospect @ QB than any we've taken under Mullen other than Dak and Sandberg. The kid wants to play QB -- the possibility of getting that opportunity is why he's looking at us.

Goat say -- "When Paul Jones says it, it's just speculation...I wait for Talty to report so I can get the real scoop."

Not that anyone needed any further indication that you are talking out you *** on this one...

Possibly, but over a 4.0 means advanced placement courses, and they don't let just anybody sign up for those. I suppose it could be that good FB players are "given" grades, but I've never heard of it extending that far. Be interesting to see his SAT. At any rate, doesn't sound like he'll be one who doesn't go to class.

Don't know much about Nick Ray. Had to look him up. Said he had a 26 ACT, which is pretty good but not 4.0 good.

How did 'articles' get to John Talty?

Oh, I'm still calm from your reassurances about the Alexander brothers. So glad you were there to keep me real.

Great, so he's better than Favre, Golden and Schessler. Like I said, he'll be playing WR, most likely at Auburn.

And if you're insinuating in any way that he's a better QB than Tyler Russell, quit with the meth.

St. Thomas Aquinas had like 7 football players accept scholarships in the Ivy League last year and puts multiple guys on football scholarship there every single year -- anotherwords, it's a tremendous academic highschool which also happens to be great at football as well. While O'Korn doesn't appear to have those Ivy offers, I'd venture to guess he's smart enough to roll through MSU...

Dobbs on the other hand does have quite a few offers in the Ivy League...

Talking out your *** -- followed by more talking out of your ***... in 2 split posts on the same exact thing, no less.

Goat gotta goat**

So glad you are the voice of the Alexander brothers, O'Korn, and Smith now**

I remember when the Saints played down there for the Super Bowl and used their facilities for practice. Looked nicer than some non-AQ facilities I've seen (USM).

Not saying O'Korn isn't smart and can't get into MSU. I'm just pointing out that a ton of lower exposed prospects fudge their grades on the likes of YouTube. Hell, I could be completely wrong and he might have a 4.2. If that's the case I'm glad I'm wrong. Congrats to him.

But don't take a 4.2 as truth because you saw it on YouTube. Very genespage sheepish to do so. It's a very good school and I'm sure he has good grades though.

Because it was a stupid question. You said you will just wait on "articles" inferring distrust for Paul Jones in the process -- well who else, other than Talty, writes these "articles" that isn't also a paysite guy, which you already inferred your distrust for?
