Just of curiosity I looked and he has actually accomplished something as a coach while Pope has not. Pelphrey did win his conference regular season twice and tournament title once.

One of my favorite players on my all-time favorite team. Pelphrey played the game with heart and passion that I would have like to see many more talented players at UK over the years play with.

I could definitely see him as an Assistant Coach, but I do not think his head coaching record (below 50%) would qualify him as a legit candidate for Head Coach.

A few years back, Pelphrey had Tennessee Tech in the OVC Championship game and lost to Southeast Missouri State in overtime. I was heartbroken for him.
