I think he's wrong because I think that was the game that Chris Wilson's wife had to leave because fans were loudly bitching about him and calling him out by name. Believe that was right after LSU beat A&M by using their freak DEs to keep containment while running a 3 man front, and we tried to copy it with Kaleb Eulls, who was a good player and great bulldog but probably a step slow to be playing DE to begin with, and Denico Autry, who up to that point was pretty underwhelming although he probably did have the talent to do what was being asked of him.

So I don't think you could have heard a pin drop because of the very loud screaming and yelling about Chris Wilson. Only thing that makes me think I might have my games mixed up is that we were 8-1 coming into that game, so were fans really that soured on Chris Wilson already? But I think that's also the year playcalling was taken from him after the egg bowl and given to Geoff Collins for the Gator Bowl, so obviously things went south that year. Maybe his wife having to leave was a later game?

I definitely left that game early. It was hot as 17 and I had seen enough by halftime.

I've seen us get dominated by great players more times than I care to count but I can't remember any worse than what Johnny did to us that day. We couldn't touch him. I never leave early and I left that game at halftime.

17 that guy.

Also, I thought it was hilarious that he was in the SEC football Any Given Saturday series on Netflix talking about the Texas-Texas A&M rivalry, seeing as how he never actually played against Texas.

"You could hear a pin drop in that place"

Kind of like his playing days at Cleveland, except eventually you couldn't hear the pin drop there because he was being booed every game. He played in 15 games there, started 8. He had 7 TDs and 7 INT's. He fumbled 7 and lost 3 during that time. In the CFL he threw 5 TDs and 7 INTs. He doesn't need to pretend like he's some star........

Got me to looking.

Sherrill was 5-2 against Texas. Won his last 5 in a row.

Regardless of how we've done against A&M or what you think of Manziel as a person, he's 100% right about that game. My goodness. I don't think I've ever left a game that early, and I was far from alone. We were just completely helpless against him and that offense right out of the gate, and our offense was completely flat that day, too. It's a pretty sobering drive chart from the first half:

I think they also started the second half with a TD, so really it was 31-0 barely into the third quarter.

I was working that day and remember seeing the game kicked off. By the time I found a TV again it was 21-0. I never checked again.

He's not wrong
Yes, he is. I was there. All you could here was me cussin'.

Seriously, it was an 11AM game and as usual we were still asleep. For the life of me, I cannot understand why a coaching staff cannot see that what they are doing before 11 AM games is not working. Wake their azzes up at 6 AM, run them and give them IV Red Bull until they wake up. If they are awake and lose, so be it.

Ask that Sac how his 2014 team felt about that 11 a.m. kickoff and crowd in Starkville. I know he wasn’t there but 17 that waste of talent. What kind of pin could be heard with that beat down! R. Brown with the 3 INTS. Kenny Hill might tell Momma’s Boy different. What an offensive game plan, and the studs we had!

This has to be the most engagement one of these article threads has gotten.
Interesting.

And yeah- he rolled over us and there wasn't a lot to cheer for.
That's like 13 years ago...why the 17 is 4 TOUCHDOWN BUNDY being interviewed at all right now?

The downside of having Brandon Walker on Bar Stool is every guest now wants to take a shot at Starkville.
I can’t listen to Necessary Roughness anymore. Big Ev’s only contribution to the show is slurping Ohio State’s dong and throwing jabs at Miss State. I’m biased, but that dude sucks.

Johnny needs to go to a ‘meeting’ and check on how he is doing for that 24-hours. I am surprised he remembered that he played in Starkville. I am just sayin’…

Leach blew the aggies out on a regular basis
Honest question 85…. Why do you continue to bring up leach in every single post? You act like we ran him off you act like we fired him at midfield. He died. Just stop with this nonsense of Leach did this or that. Move on.

Is he still a drunk and a drug addict? It must be good for his low self esteem to pick on Brandon when MSU is down. I hope we beat those milkmen by 50 this year.

To be honest, I haven't listened to an episode of NR since Jack Mac left.

can't respect a guy that lives off his college glory days TWELVE YEARS AGO, because honestly, sadly, that is all he has in his sad story to be happy about

kind of like the folks at the high school reunion wishing it was like it was back then

move on bro, everyone else has

Really, Johnny?.. well you were one of the most gifted athletes to ever play college football and 12 years later I'd wager sitting here as an out of shape pasty white dude finding time post on Sixpack, my net worth is greater than yours.

So blow it out your azz.

There was an obnoxious A&M fan sitting next to me that game, and I couldn't wait for our team to shut him up.

Needless to say, I didn't get my wish.

Blah blah, you guys that are so worried about what people think need to get over yourselves, and realize that embracing Starkville as a small town is the key to making us unique.

I'm with you on the general point but pretty much anybody was going to be hard-pressed to beat that particular A&M team, especially by that point in the season. If they hadn't had their season delayed by a hurricane, they probably don't lose to Florida (as an opener) and likely win the national championship.

Not only that, but I believe it was the La Tech game that got moved, and sandwiched right after the Ole Miss game which probably had them a little distracted when they barely lost to LSU. So they are probably 14-0 under normal circumstances.

Yep, Johnny Football was great. Could have been good in the pros too if his head was screwed on right. athletic freak, ran a 4.68 but nobody could catch him, good example of how straight line forty speed doesn’t correlate with rushing ability. Still can’t figure out how he was that elusive with size 14 shoes, lol
