So how exactly did these stats translate into tonight's game? You being such a football savant and all.
If Phillips played last week like they did last night, they dont win, that simple.. Out gain a team 475-120 and lose????
Yep, good for them.. we lost to them a few years ago in a great game up there, good people...
But just because Phillips decided to give the game away does in no way means Johnsburg is better than anyone else.. put the ball on the ground 8 times and have 125 yards in penalties its going to be hard to beat any top 10 team

Johnsburg didnt win as much as Phillips lost it.. you had 110 yds offense....
As far as not having their starting back against us, I see the kid that got the carries against us had over 100 yards in 9 carries so the difference seems to be minimal .. I am confused how them missing a 1500 yard guy is a big deal, us missing a 1300 yd back thats also our best defensive player doesnt seem to matter..
All the Herscher kids can say is they are better than the state runner up and get ready for next year..

So by your logic Indiana State South Dakota and Youngstown State are all better than Iowa because they beat Illinois State and Illinois State beat Northwestern so ipso facto they are better.
Or.... these teams are all actually better than Michigan because ISU etc lost to etc and beat Northwestern which beat Iowa who beat Michigan.

You are comparing two teams that played each other... all I have said is that in my opinion , if Johnsburg and Herscher played, I think we win.. and last names game they gained about 100 yards of offense suredidnt change my opinion.. but good for them, they capitalized on Phillips mistakes, I am jealous they didnt make those same mistakes against us..
Well your first two examples are stupid..... 3 one is better.. USC fans still feel they were better, happens all the times in sports.. happens all the time here...
If Phillips and Johnsburg played against next week... would you bet any money on Johnsburg winning??? No, because the odds of Phillips playing that poorly again are slim.. I dont think anyone here will claim that Johnsburg is a better team than Phillips, if they play 100 times Phillips wins almost all of them, but last night they only needed to win one of them and they did.. personally I am glad they lost..
I just think your logic is flawed. I get what you're saying, any given Friday? Your team might rattle off a big night against Johnsburg but at the end of the day, Herscher didnt earn it.

But they didnt! Phillips turned the ball over almost 5 times/ twice in the first half, they have ZERO special teams (decided the game), and they're coaching was suspect and arrogant in my opinion. You go home for that. Thats why they play the game! they dont play 100 times, they played once last night and lost.
Didn't Johnsburg play pretty well? Must have. And their defense must have made a play or two particularly with the game on the line.
The narrative you are trying to desparately cling to is that of an overbearing alumni trying to convince everyone of something that simply cannot be proven by fact.
Herscher lost to Phillips at home. Johnsburg played Phillips at home and won. No other external fact can dispute that. You wanna believe Herscher is better than Johnsburg, go ahead.
But throwing out arbitrary stats about this many yards turnovers or penalties only makes your whining look more trite, soft and immature.
I'm sure the kids at Johnsburg are happy to know Herscher believes they are better. When they take the field at U of I next week I'm sure that will be front and center in their lexicon.
I can foretell that you will be a miserable SOB if Johnsburg somehow wins next week. What narrative could you possibly spin then?
I'm so sorry for you that your football life is so shallow that you have to diminish the accomplishments or lifetime achievements in this case to somehow satisfy your yearning to prop your own program up.
As a very good coach and friend once said to me, if it's in you to diminish the accomplishments of young teeenage kids to somehow satisfy your own agenda, theirs a special spot in a dark dark low low place for you.
