you think we're that team that emphasizes defense? we rank 90th in yards/pass attempt, 126th in pass yards/game, 82nd in yards allowed/play. I can't imagine that there is any decent metric that would rate our defense better than the one Baylor put up 62 pts and 700 yds against on Saturday. We should be very happy we're in the Big Ten playing the illinois and minnesotas of the world and not teams that can actually throw the football.

Are you failing to see that the days of getting beat by 40 are over? You better go root for another team then. Again, let's see them play a team that actually emphasizes defense and see what they can do.

He didn't predict they'd beat us by 40, but they'd drop a crap load of points on us, and while we'd score on them as well I don't think we could match them point for point. We just beat a bad Minny team that may go winless the rest of the season, yeah we looked great doing it, but it was just Minny. Also, nobody ever claimed those guys currently in the Big 12 would make great NFL QB's, not sure what that has to do with the price of fireworks in China. Lastly, every QB is a "system QB", that is always the weirdest phrase thrown around. You think MR doesn't have a "system" or Urban Meyer? Everyone has a system, some teams are just better than others at executing it.

When he throws to teams that can't come up with schemes to stop him sure. How many successful QB's have done well in the NFL? How much hype surrounded them, and yet they fizzled? It's a system, systrm QB's rarely if ever, make it to the elite talks in the NFL.
Seth Russell is a systrm QB. Nothing more.
Obviously you've never seen him play. He's a damn good runner (4.45) as well as passer. Something Baylor lacked in a QB last year. If Russell had been the starter last year against MSU, Baylor would've won that game handily. BTW, Baylor rush attempts 2015 - 293
pass attempts 2015 - 190
So what "system" is Russell playing too?

Cute GIF, name the best of the power 5 defensively ranked teams they have faced. Then perhaps you can tell us where the rest of their opponents fall in the defensive rankings across the country.

Hint: Defense isn't exactly the strong suite of ANYONE they have faced, or will face. The highest ranked defense they will face, is Oklahoma......which is THE highest ranked defense they will see in their conference.

Then tell me how the B1G compares defensively to the B12. Let's see Russell put up those numbers in our league buddy.

Your disgust is reciprocated. Move to Texas.

See my last post. We destroyed a Minny team that was improving, that nearly beat TCU mind you.
Give us and the conference some goddam credit!!! TCU was much healthier by the way when facing Minnesota, then they are right now.

EDIT: I'll do this for you to save you time. Baylor hasn't faced even a top 40 defense yet. Their defense is beyond the top 50 btw.

They're overrated. Put them against Michigan, MSU, Bama, and they'd be rolled right the #$#$ over. Give our defense more time to improve and we'd smoke them. I have no doubt about it.

Here are three facts for you.

1. Nebraska has a bad defense.
2. Baylor puts up 60 pts on bad defenses like ours.
3. You don't have any idea what the hell you're talking about.

Here are the ACTUAL facts,
1. you're going by our defensive play early in the seasons, we've improved greatly.
2. Baylor has no defense
3. I know much more than you do.

Look at Baylors opponents and tell me who've they've played that even cracks the top 40. Tell me how Baylor is going to stop us? I guarantee you, someone will make an example out of Baylor, just like someone always made an example out of Oregon. Video game offenses suffer bugs, when a real defense gets put in front of them.
The most points we've allowed is 36 against a pretty good Miami opponent. The stats don't tell everything. A lot of our problems came from penalties and turnovers. Once we clean that up, and we will, I guarantee you, we would be capable of beating a team like Baylor.

Another joke for you...Cubs/World Series.

Yeah, Baylor would hang at least a half-a-hundy on us and Minny might not win another game. Thanks for playing.

Doesn't a ranking in the top 25 actually indicate that the perception of that team, in real life, is that they are good enough to be ranked?

I'm so confused.

Normally conferences are judged by overall quality of depth...not just the top teams. I have softened my position considerably about which conference is stronger when I looked at bowl records last year and discovered the Big 12 went like 2-5 in bowl games. BIG went 5-5 last year (or 6-5 if you give Ohio State 2 wins). The years before that however, the BIG did not do so well in the bowl games.

It seems I need to remind myself that what was true a couple years ago, does not necessarily mean it is true today. I guess we will have a better idea of which conferences are good this year after the season/bowl season.

Cool

You are still a little crazy though if you think Nebraska would beat Baylor or TCU right now. Football has a lot to do with match ups and Nebraska would not match up very well against those explosive pass offenses. I think Nebraska would score some points too, I just don't see them being able to keep up all game. That is my .02.

I think it would be a much better matchup than people think. Nebraska is a hard nosed team.
