6 stroke lead after the 3rd round today at the Memorial Tournament and was told on the 18th green that he was being forced to withdraw due to a positive covid test. Apparently it takes at least 3 days at a minimum to get test results back since the tournament started on Thursday. I could see this getting ugly. Didn't even tell him in private.

Apparently had he been fully vaccinated he wouldn’t have been subject to testing and would’ve been able to finish with no issues.
It’s amazing that there are still idiots out there who haven’t been vaccinated.

Sure, but not at the Open venue. Look we can all make our own choices as to whether or not to get vaccinated but he is on the PGA tour which has a whole separate set of rules. Just don't understand the dumb assedness.
Why not let him carry his own bags and finish out? It's not like golf is a team sport. He can easily social distiance.
My comment was in regard to being able to play or practice before Tuesday afternoon. I have no idea if the PGA will allow him to practice at the course by himself or not. I was not commenting on whether or not he used good judgement by not being vaccinated.
So if he was positive wed/thurs he played 3 days as “positive” so why aren’t they rapid testing then?

Actually he cannot. The PGA Tour protocol is 10 days by yourself in a hotel room where you tested positive. He can't even go home to be with his wife and newborn daughter.
You have to test daily if unvaccinated. His failed rest was from yesterday morning. It came back positive and then they retested that sample and it was positive again.

They are allowed to play if they have the flu. I've heard many announcers say beware of the sick golfer.
Not sure why it is so hard for some people to say with millions of dollars on the line plus a newborn baby at home it was stupid for Rahm not to get vaccinated.

no. He was about to enter into a enclosed space with other people. He did it to himself. At this point, if you haven’t been vaccinated, you get what you deserve. He could have avoided this and chose not to.
