********. Didn’t happen. It’s not and was never gonna be Stevens, who just accepted a job he wants more than any coaching job.

You’re making yourself look foolish by continuing to grasp at the Stevens straw. It ain’t him, it’s Scheyer. You’re simply wrong, accept it.
It is still odd as hell his obsession with conspiracy theories ignoring the fact Duke is announcing Scheyer is the next coach. He probably got his tall tale from his good friend the Easter bunny.

Ainge was retiring anyway, the K announcement had nothing to do with him retiring...K reached out to tell Stevens his intent and feel him out. Stevens is in a position where he won't be obligated to finish coaching a team while Duke is looking to announce replacement after NCAAT.

It's all there...
Are you trying to be a insider? You know for fact K reached out? LOL

With this announcement, I'd be quick to jump at Jazian Gortman and see if you can get him to look at UK harder. More athletic Tyler Ulis who has blown up. Gone from playing locally to with Nightrydas and has beaten many top names/teams head to head this Spring as he's climbed to be #2 PG in class behind Dior Johnson. From South Carolina. Coach K gone at Duke.....can't hurt to see if you can make a push now. Several videos out and good clips too. Here's when he was getting ready for AAU with local event.

So Duke, Nike, NCAA is perfectly good handing their golden goose over to someone with absolutely ZERO head coaching experience? Okkkeeeeee
You say he has no experience but he gave a lot of halftime interviews on the way to the dressing room. Probably been doing the coaching all along.

In all fairness, K was a nobody when Duke hired him. A couple of mediocre seasons at Army.

Still, I don't look for Scheyer to stick around long if Duke wants to remain a powerhouse. I guess it's possible he surprises and does well, I don't personally see it but who knows.

The most interesting thing about K's announcement is we will see if and how Duke endures. Unlike UK, Kansas, and UNC - all of which have endured multiple coaching eras and have maintained elite status decade after decade. While they had some marginal success before K (under Vic Bubas), Duke basketball was essentially founded and built by K. They haven't yet had the opportunity to face the test of time. This is their equivalent of when Rupp retired. We kept the train rolling. Will Duke? Do they even care? We shall see.

I’m LMAO at all the writers tweeting about how Scheyer was the guy who landed Tatum, Ingram, and Williamson.

The way they landed those guys is why they are hiring Scheyer. He knows where the bodies are buried.
remember when Banchero said he met with Scheyer a few days before he committed to duke? Despite it being a dead period. Nobody said anything about it except us. Scheyer is the bag man.

So Danny Ainge is leaving just to see the guy who replaces him leave the following year. Nah.
I have no information other than what I read on the internet but I think it's entirely possible that Ainge is really leaving the GM position on account of him sucking at the job to a Kevin McHale level. Well, he might not be that bad but still...

ESPN ready to prop the new Duke coach up already.

J-Will calls Scheyer a 'young Brad Stevens'

We shall see. I am ok with a young Brad Stevens since Brad never won a title.

I thought Capel was the one that landed Tatum, and Ingram, and the guy that owned the million dollar home that williamson's parents moved into was the one that landed williamson. Oh and by the way, I don't think scheyer owned that house.

Stevens was never gonna be duke coach. At least not now. He heard about ratface retirement and realized they weren’t gonna make the call to him so he went for a front office gig in the nba. He may have wanted the job but duke didn’t want him.

Btw scheyer is Israeli Jew so he’s not in the majority here
Well, this is a misleading statement.

He did acquire Israeli dual citizenship when he went there to play pro basketball as an adult, but he never actually lived there other than for a couple seasons of pro ball. He’s an American kid born and raised in Illinois.

Maybe Schirer can talk bagman Capel into coming back with his shoe company connections and it will be business as usual, paying everyone they want. Wait even if they get these top players, they still have to coach them. Look what they did with the so called greatest team in the history of college basketball. They didn't even make the final 4. Heck if they had not cheated Florida State, they would not have even made the elite eight.
