He is taking over for Jason Witten who is now at OU coaching TEs. That is a good job with much more security than an assistant to the assistant special teams coach. This hiring process for this job has been going on for a couple of weeks. Rhule knew Martin was a candidate when Ekeler left for USC.
Probably making more money as a high school head coach in Texas than the assistant to the assistant special teams coachOh snap I didn't realize it was a high school job lol
You cant write it

($123,600), assistant special teams coach Josh MartinProbably making more money as a high school head coach in Texas than the assistant to the assistant special teams coach
A quick ai search says head coaches at large schools in Texas can make over 140K. Texas does NOT have a state income tax which is something most free board posters never consider when they look at salaries. Personally, I’m glad he left. Hire a new coordinator.($123,600), assistant special teams coach Josh Martin
And he was going to be promoted to full time special teams coach according to Rhule. You think he'd be making a lot more than a high school coach.
He was rumored to be apart of the team. No different than he was now. Maher or Humphrey will get the head job, clearly he knew he wasn't getting the coordinator position. That job was open in Mid January and before Ekeler was announced at USC. So Martin would have had to show interest pretty early on in the process for it to be announced this quickly.($123,600), assistant special teams coach Josh Martin

Strange that a HS job is better than a college job. But perhaps money is not all that important to the guy. Its a private school so perhaps pays very well. Sadly am fast losing my interest in Husker football and frankly for all of college football these days. Guess I am becoming a dinosaur, LOL!He is taking over for Jason Witten who is now at OU coaching TEs. I don't know that it is a better job, just that it is a good job that will probably pay as much as he was making at Nebraska. 2 time state champs and loaded for next year. Plus he is the guy making the decisions as a head coach.Strange that a HS job is better than a college job. But perhaps money is not all that important to the guy. Assistant to the analystHe will somehow remain on the payroll
That is probably the biggest part.I don't know that it is a better job, just that it is a good job that will probably pay as much as he was making at Nebraska. 2 time state champs and loaded for next year. Plus he is the guy making the decisions as a head coach.
With a wad of Skoal between his teeth.looks like Backwards Hat Matt is back on the table
It is crazy that I am starting to really dislike Rhule. I don't even really know why but he is just rubbing me the wrong way. With a wad of Skoal between his teeth.
Sinking shipHoly crap, Matt has fallen so far that assts are leaving for high school jobs???
Not at all. It's the same song and dance each year with him.It is crazy that I am starting to really dislike Rhule. I don't even really know why but he is just rubbing me the wrong way.
I have no idea what you are talking about with that part. Not at all. It's the same song and dance each year with him.
Rah rah in the offseason, a couple good hype speeches in week 1-4, then wheels completely falling off due to a problem that will surely be fixed next year, which never comes.
Players typically adopt the attitude of their coach, and Rhule is someone who gets high off his own supply.
You can actually pinpoint the exact moment when he lost the locker-room. It was halftime against Colorado in 2024 while we were beating the brakes off of them physically. Instead of messaging "step on their throat and give me 30 more in the second half", Rhule chose "umm guys let's not be disrespectful about this."
This doesn't resonate with young kids, do you think Cignetti ever took the feelings of the opposing team into account when he was pouring 60 on a ranked opponent? It doesn't resonate with assistant coaches who understand the attitude kids need to adopt, and has thus led to massive turnover and failed hires.
That’s an earth shattering take right there. So would 99% of college football would love cigs over there current coach.I have no idea what you are talking about with that part.
But, I would love to have Cigs instead of Rhule.
Agreed. That’s an earth shattering take right there. So would 99% of college football would love cigs over there current coach.
Consume enough of this board and you can’t help but be effectedIt is crazy that I am starting to really dislike Rhule. I don't even really know why but he is just rubbing me the wrong way.
I'm talking about the literal video of Rhule talking to the team at halftime, where the boys came to the locker-room fired up and he essentially told them to calm down, then outsourced his message to Bud Crawford.I have no idea what you are talking about with that part.
But, I would love to have Cigs instead of Rhule.
FIFYConsume enough of Nebraska football under Matt Rhule and you can’t help but be effected
I could just print some of the posts out and bring it to my doctor and get a prescription for pretty much any drug!Consume enough of this board and you can’t help but be effected

everyone know you watched.Oh, no thanks.
Yeah, no one cares.everyone know you watched.

1% wouldn't?That’s an earth shattering take right there. So would 99% of college football would love cigs over there current coach.
There are some "ride or die" Rhule fans still.1% wouldn't?
You care that your snarky comment backfired and I brought receipts.Yeah, no one cares.
It was not meant as snarky, sorry. I had no idea what you were talking about. I don't watch that show you posted. You care that your snarky comment backfired and I brought receipts.
Better luck next time, sweetheart
He’s just not a confident guy and unfortunately he projects that by being intimidated by assistants that can actually help NU.It is crazy that I am starting to really dislike Rhule. I don't even really know why but he is just rubbing me the wrong way.
