JSU didn't even throw their ace tonight

My goodness, ULL. You just got shutout by a SWAC pitcher with four previous starts.

We will see JSU's ace tomorrow. I'm guessing that means Ross is on the hill for us.

Yup. ULL is aggressive... they probably saw a lot of fastball throwers this year, as evident by the fact they struggled to get anything on the ball tonight. That was strictly a very smart matchup decision by JSU's coach.

We just need to do our thing. If we win tomorrow, we are in the drivers seat the rest of the weekend. If it gets to Monday and ULL knocks off SDSU (don't discount that scenario yet, either), we might see this guy ULL threw tonight on Monday. He didn't throw a tremendous amount of pitchers tonight.

Why? Are we that scared of JSU's ace.

There team Era is over 4. If we can't win without Mitchell, then we don't deserve to win this regional. Plus if we lost, You got Mitchell to knock out ULL/SDSU winner then try to win two against J-State's 3 and 4 starters. 31-23 they ain't that deep in pitching

I'm not saying we should throw Ross, but it's the safe bet and our coaches will probably do it.

I'm not worried about giving up a ton of runs to these guys no matter who we pitch. We just have to hit.

It's may be a safe bet for the game, but an incredibly dumb one for the tournament. Every pitcher on our staff should beat JSU. No way we waste our best pitcher against them

If Cohen pitches Mitchell tomorrow and we lose this regional, he's opened himself up for a hell of a lot of criticism. If Brown, Woodruff or Bracewell can't beat JSU, we'd still be in great shape to face the ULL-SDSU winner with Mitchell and then 2 games vs. JSU's #3 and #4 starters.

It's a safe bet we play ULL on Sunday for the tournament, should we win tomorrow (which we should). You saw how much they struggled against junkball pitchers tonight... If I'm Cohen, I'm saving my junkball guys (Lindgren and Mitchell) for the potential matchup with them. I'm playing to win the tournament, not just beat JSU. If I'm Cohen, I'm playing to end this thing on Sunday.

Lindgren and Mitchell are junk ballers? I dont think junk baller means what you think it means.

Try hitting his slider. His fastball has enough movement that it's also hard to square up on. That was my point. His past several outings, very few have gotten meaningful contact off of Lindgren... moreso than Mitchell.

Ok, technically they are not "junkballers"... maybe I should have used the word "crafty"

Lindgren no doubt throws gas but isn't Mitchell the definition of a junk baller pitcher throwing pitches that top out at 83? Like I said, I'm not baseball aficionado.

Yes, I would call Mitchell a junk baller. Fastball tops out low 80s and breaking stuff in the mid 60s. Lindgren is in no way shape or form a junk ball pitcher. Mid 90s fastball from the left side with nasty slider is not a junk ball pitcher.

Well... Sorta. The purists will tell you a "junkballer" is a pitcher who rarely throws a fastball... who just throws breaking ****. Ross' fastball breaks enough, it should be considered a breaking pitch. It's almost like a hard slider.
