Otherwise, that's a pretty harsh punishment.

Did LaGarrett Blount have his scholarship revoked? For some reason, i'm thinking he kept it...

I understand why they did it, but it's really not necessary to go that extreme.

A five game suspension would have sufficed.

In any case, Tevester Anderson has been a well respected coach for many years (as well as Bob Braddy) . I'm sure they did the right thing.</p>

I think what this guy did was worse.Although still clearly in the wrong,Blount was provokedand made a snap decision to jaw the kid who was taunting him. This guy, for noobvious reason, punchedDee in the nuts then acted like he didn't do anythingwrong, apparently lied to his coach and said he didn't do it...THEN called the ref a mother17er for allnearby to hear...THEN took off his jersey and threw it in the tunnel.

JSU doesn't get to many opportunities to play on the big stage of national tv and to have a kid punch an opposing player in the nuts, then get a 2nd T heading off the court. Every jsu fan watching that game was embarrassed to have that kid play for them.

I applaud the university and who ever else was responsible for this action. college athletes, or every athlete, has got to learn that they can not do what ever the -17- they want and they will be punished.

Extreme punishment? Maybe, but you have to think of how this affects the others on the team. This is a statement, you act like a dumbass and embarrass our school, we will act.

Congrats JSU for having the balls to do this.
One mistake in a very important game where nerves are running high and players are very emotional is not a reason to revoke someones scholarship and ruin his life. I have no clue about this guys financial situation, but most college basketball players are not wealthy enough to spit out the money it takes to attend college these days. Pell grants help but I would bet that scholarship was his future to graduating with a college degree. Thus, going on to living a successful life. Maybe he has alot of money and can continue on through school, but this punishment had to have been because there were other troubling situations he got into in the past.

Don't be a dickhead. A few games next season would have been fine. Did the guy from the other game on "NIT scrotal abuse night" get his scholarship revoked? I hope not.

It was totally unexpected. They have some trouble guys on the team but he was not one of them.

Apparently Bost had been holding him all game because of his hip pointer and he just got tired of it. When i was talking to the coach last night there was no mention of the kid having his scholly revoked. Seems a bit harsh.

I think Chris Paul did this in the NCAA tournament a few years back and got away with it.

and "Not a contributor". Nor was he working out very well.

Maybe he carried his anger into the locker room and then into the punishment discussionwith CoachAnderson and pushed it too far. You must give Anderson the benefit ofany doubt that you would have. What he decided to do with the player was appropriate, regardless of how much or little we know. The player was getting a free ride and needed to follow the JSU program rules.

Still a horrible shame to mess up so badly that you lose your free ride. IMO< the worst part is it never had to happen. Whatever brought it on (insulting words, unseen foul, whatever) , surely it is not the worst antagonism he has ever seen or endured on a basketball court.

What if our guy had spontaneously responded by breaking his 17n nose. Should the refs and school admin let that go because it was in the heat of the game?

...and throwing it should all be acceptable as long as it is in the heat of the battle. Give me a break. They have already said he will have a chance to walk on next year so obviously he will remain in school.

You sucker punch some body and see if your *** don't end up in jail. Yeah I know it's sports but hell that don't make them any more special then me. I think he is a freaking Pansie and is getting what he deserves.
