How long will it be before they play something else besides All I Do is win or do you not care just because were winning and could care less what they play because we won?

I wish they wouldn't play anything at all. They need to let the band have their time. The band it playing all kinds of stuff and the jumbotron is rudely overpowering them.

As long as they don't play any Phill Collins! I was in VHS this weekend and that crap is awful!

Tell it Flab...No need to have a band when a $3/hr disc jockey is playing what-

ever pops up on his ipod. Some music when the band is playing is fine but it is beyond dumb and just plain rude to drown out the FMB. Auburn's band was bad enough but to mash the sound of your own band is not right. NASA picked up readings on the new rover that appeared to be a Marsquake until they figured out it only shook when our jumbotron cranked up..........

I know when I was in band, we constantly had to dodge the music being played... Both before and after the game. I hated it. Hell, one game during pregame warmups, a unit came out on the field to do drills (we always played Hail State or some version of it when a unit ran on the field) and the idiot running sound played Hail State on the jumbotron while we were in the stands ready to play.

I sit in B and haven't heard the band once in two games. A little coordination wouldn't hurt. We drive that jumbotron like it's a Yugo.

Do y'all really think our 17 year old recruits and 19-22 year old players want to hear that sedated music from the FMB? Hell no they dont. That music is more appropriate at a funeral than a football game. I say keep playing All I Do Is Win, and Who Let The Dogs Out, until Ludacrous lays down a better track.
Now you old 17's get back to your rooms. It's time for your morning meds., and Price is Right.

For the most part I agree with Allday. Even as a 45 year old cracker, I appreciate the music choice. I have noticed that the players react to the Dawgzilla music more than the FMB. The FMB is used to fire up the student section and they do it well. However there needs to be coordination between the zilla and the band to keep from playing at the same time.

With that said at least we are not playing lilly white teen crap from the 90's as Troy did this weekend.

Spoken like a true dubmass.. There are other 17-22 year olds that want to

be in the FMB and attend State along with some 300 or so already in the FMB. Exhibit A is the increased size of the band. They practice during the week for home games and a couple of away games. They add a lot to the atmosphere with Hail State and Go State. It is light years ahead of what it has been. What you are apparently too dense to grasp is drowning them out with ANY loud music says to them "Piss on you, our recruits along with a number of idiots don't give a damn about you or your fellow band members."

If you cannot understand that (not to mention that young and old folks enjoy the band) then hopefully Mr. Darwin will include you in the next cleansing of the gene pool.

And I don't watch the Price is Right...

The point is there should be a plan in place between the Jumbotron operator and FMB. Get the bigwigs together and decide how much airtime each will get....them make a plan. Shouldnt be that difficult. There needs to be a gameday producer...someone who is responsible for crap like this, along with all the other events that happen in the stadium. Seems like everyone is doing whatever they want, whenever they want. Maybe there is a producer,,,,if so, they need instructions.

I didn't buy season tickets to see and hear the band. Just a cold, true fact. However, I do think there needs to be coordination while the band is on the field. I like the pre-game hype of the hip-hop music though. The band plays during the game when the team does something good, and the whole stadium sings with them. They also have halftime and pre-game right before the team takes the field. I like the atmosphere the video board and music creates. It makes people want to get on their feet. The band, not so much.

Who gives a **** about recruiting for the band? Sorry, but I just don't. I like the band, I'm glad they are there, but I would rather here some good music than the same old tired **** the band has trotted out for the last 40 years. If they want to coordinate some to give the band it's moments I have no problem with that, but I like the Jumbotron music. The only time I would like to hear the band that they get overpowered is at the end when they play the fight song with the players down there. other than that who give a flip...

Thanks former 10th chair flute player, let me enlighten you on economics. The 57,000 people that show up on game day would still be there even if the sedated FMB took a sick day. We come to see football which in turn pays for your fat unathletic *** to play the flute.
50 years ago the band was a more essential part of the football business model, but today it simply does not fire up the athletic, or academic recruits. You can lie to yourself all you want to feel relevant, but the truth is in the crowd and player response to "All I do is win" It fires more people up.

You should watch Price is Right to get started on your economics learning curve.

You guys need to just get shithoused like me and you won't care about either playing....problem solved but really the FMB needs some new material..playing Fire by Hendrix and Holiday by Green Day for 10 straight years has gotten old and sadly no one really gives a damn about them

Band members would be my guess....

Look, whether or not you care, there are 300 band members who participate as part of the game day experience. Many on this board have bitched about the size/quality of the FMB over the years. It's now bigger and better than it has been in recent memory. No, it is not the centerpiece of the game, but it is a part of it. I like having the band play and I don't mind the music from the MegaDeath Jumbotron even thought some of what is called music just sounds like mumbled junk. I live with it.

But I agree with Flab that this should be handled better and somebody put in charge to keep one from stepping on the other.

The Jumbotron can't beat that WE JUST BEAT THE HELL OUT OF YOU song by the FMB at the end of a big win. Nothing. But after we beat Auburn, the 'tron drowned that song out. The FMB played it twice in a row and nobody south of the north goal line could hear them.

In short, the reason so much old material is played is money. Royalties have to be paid on most of the music played, and the newer it is, the more expensive it is. The band ponies up for a few new tunes every year, but a clean sweep of new material in one season would be a little too much to handle financially. And why bother when 1) many of you say you don't care about hearing the band anyway(I'm not saying that negatively in the slightest, it's completely understandable), and 2) it's not really about what's being specifically played, it's more about just having that marching band sound for the classic college football atmosphere, which seems like it's quickly becoming outdated anyway.

Rush is White teen crap?

With that said at least we are not playing lilly white teen crap from the 90's as Troy did this weekend.

I heard Kashmir and Tom Sawyer being played at Troy over the speakers. Sounded pretty cool to me. Would you rather they play country music?

I HATE "All I Do Is Win." That song was completely played out two years ago.

Agree that FMB and tron need to be coordinated. But it is a MUST that we have a cohesive plan at the end of games. Mullen started a tradition that the players go in front of the FMB and sing the alma mater and they play the hey song. Why drown that out? That makes absolutely NO sense.

I was looking forward to the whole crowd chanting along to the hey song after the Auburn game. I really wanted to rub it in those Aubies faces. But I couldn't even hear the band! How stupid are we?
