He did a show on the football field for the small town I grew up in. My Grandfather was a hard and grizzled man from growing up in the depression and a purple heart in WWII. His recollections about that show are the few times I ever saw that man laugh.

If this is meant to be a joke, I'm missing it.

The Ledbetters were Ardel, Burnel, Raynell, Udel, Odel, W.L., Lenel, Marcel, Claude, Newgene and Clovis.

The progeny of Uncle Versis and Aunt Pet.
No joke. I just grabbed a random meme off google I thought was topical, and didn’t fact check it.

Sorry - didn't mean to be an ***. I just thought there was something I was missing somehow.

I'm a huge Jerry Clower fan and, at one time, could perform almost any of his stories for any audience I could gather. I'm from so far back in the woods we had to truck in daylight, and listening to Jerry Clower helped me through may a homesick night when I went off to school.

I have an uncle that traveled back and forth between Louisiana and Mississippi for work. He stopped around McComb to get gas and when he went in to pay, he heard a familiar voice. It was Jerry and two old men drinking coffee and sharing stories. He walked over to say hello. Next thing he knew Jerry had him sitting at the table joining in. He said he was one of the nicest men you could meet.

I loved reading Lewis Grizzard’s articles in high school.
My favorite Lewis Grizzard column:
