Oklahoma hired Calvin Thibodeaux. His previous coaching stops were Kansas, Tulsa, Dartmouth and Navarro Jr College.

Is that a big name, splash hire?

I'm all in with JP and what Riley is doing.

Good comparison, plus they both were star players at the school and position they were hired for. Thibs might have more higher level college coaching/recruiting but Parrella has 12 years playing the position in the NFL. I have a feeling both schools are excited about their hire and expect good things from their new coach. I am Riled up about the Parella hire, GBR

Stoops is just not collecting a paycheck. I believe Sooners were in the play offs last year.

Have you not been on the board since we hired Riley over a year ago? How do you miss the inside joke?

Edit: actually, not an inside joke at all. A very public joke where many posters claim Riley didn't come to win but to coast and collect a paycheck...

If we are going to pick specific teams to compare to I choose LSU. Go.

How about we compare what product these coaches actually put on the field, Instead of what schools they coached at in the past? Talent doesn't matter (recruiting) if they don't mature much beyond their high school play...

From "Football Outsiders", they specifically analyze defensive line statistics as such:

Against the Run

Adjusted Line Yards, Standard Downs Line Yards per Carry, Passing Downs Line Yards per Carry, Opportunity Rate, Power Success Rate, Stuff Rate

Against the Pass

Adjusted Sack Rate, Standard Downs Sack Rate, Passing Downs Sack Rate

1st year Ed Orgeron, LSU Defensive Line Rankings
RUN #33/#89/#39/#56/#83/#89
PASS #20/#13/#40

1st year Hank Hughes, Nebraska Defensive Line Rankings
RUN #6/#7/#5/#5/#2/#31
PASS #96/#98/#112
