@basedawg ..... it's details like this that are just totally riveting and why I always read "OT" posts. I will save this in my travel files to reference in the future when I consider making plans to travel in Alaska. I will know that I need to inquire as to the 4 day 7 day cruise, and that there is a moose.4 day 7 day cruise in the south passage. Started in Fairbanks and ended in Vancouve!
No it was 4 days on land starting in Fairbanks, Denali, Talkeetna, Anchorage. Then cruise started in Whittier, Skagway, Juneau, Ketchikan and departed in Vancouver. Not familiar with the 4 day 7 day cruise. Was that two separate cruises ??
it started in Whittier? and departed in Vancouver????No it was 4 days on land starting in Fairbanks, Denali, Talkeetna, Anchorage. Then cruise started in Whittier, Skagway, Juneau, Ketchikan and departed in Vancouver.

One of my favorite jokes:This was the catch on my second day of fishing out of Seward.
The scrawniest halibuts are mine, but so are the biggest cod. Also some of the bigger rockfish. On an trip a couple of days before we caught better halibut and I caught one normal king salmon and one ivory king. Plus at the time the red salmon were running and you just yanked them out of the water behind the old McDonalds.
Grocery shopping at it's finest.

We flew from Memphis to Anchorage and hung out around the area for 3 days to explore and recover a little from jet lag. Then rented a RV for 9 days and drove up to Wasilla, Talkeetna, and on to Denali where we camped out for 3 days. The day we left Memphis, I Fedexed my 12 ga. Benelli shotgun to my hotel. After a day in Anchorage, the gun shows up at the hotel. Very glad I did that. The wildlife up there demanded it (and not just the 4 legged type, if you know what I mean). Gives you a sense of security while traveling around in the RV. Didn't tell anyone I had it.....it was there, just in case we got into a serious bind. After 3 days in Denali and a close encounter with a Brown Bear, we left for Fairbanks and on around to North Pole where we spent the night. Then south to Glenallen and on to Valdez for a couple nights. Lots of big Moose all along the way, a couple of them charged us when we pulled over to take photos. Got back in the RV and took off! Snowed like crazy in Valdez and the scenery was beyond description. Saw where the Alaskan oil pipeline ended and the ocean tankers loading it up. Pretty cool trip. Then back up to Glenallen and over to Palmer. Took the RV back to the travel center and the next day hopped back on the plane headed to Memphis. Fun trip, but remember.....there are a lot more things in Alaska that can kill you vs what we know in Mississippi. Prepare for it and be aware all the time.I was gunless in the wilderness in Alaska for 3 days, and let’s just say I would not do that again
I don't leave my home gunless in Florida for three days. Jesus Christ.I was gunless in the wilderness in Alaska for 3 days, and let’s just say I would not do that again
The age we live in now, all of us (especially women) should include our firearm just like we remember to take our keys, phone, and billfold every day!I don't leave my home gunless in Florida for three days. Jesus Christ.
When we got to Vancouver, it looked a lot like San Franciso, dirty and homless lined up on streets and laying around. You could see many where on drugs! Pitiful and Sad!The age we live in now, all of us (especially women) should include our firearm just like we remember to take our keys, phone, and billfold every day!
I visited Vancouver in 1982 and considered it the second most beautiful city I had visited in the world (Hong Kong was my favorite). We went back 2 years ago when we went on our Alaskan cruise and I had bragged about it to my wife. Boy was I disappointed! You are right about the drugs and the homeless. When we got to Vancouver, it looked a lot like San Franciso, dirty and homless lined up on streets and laying around. You could see many where on drugs! Was in San Fran last year and was expecting what you described above. I saw fewer fentanyl zombies there than my last trip to Nashville. Depends on where you go, or end up, in many cases. When we got to Vancouver, it looked a lot like San Franciso, dirty and homless lined up on streets and laying around. I will eagerly and with great joy "like / thumbs up" your posts so as to do my part to elevate your status in hopes that my efforts will also be recognized and one day we will find ourselves in the "House of heisman's".......well above the commoner affiliations of sophomores and Juniors

Umm we were 2-0 while you were gone so take your àss back. And I did keep up with both games I missed as best as I could. What an awesome two weeks I enjoyed with Alaska and the Dawgs winning! I read where the crowd was into the game! Glad to hear!
