plus hitting the favorites button while in the guide, now changes the channel instead of jumping to your next favorite in the guide. HORRIBLE

instead of just changing the guide to that channel. Mine doesn't do that but some do.

Also, the "start over" feature is really cool, but would be much better if you could fast forward using it.

I spoke with them today to ask about the guide and wtf they were thinking. The Customer Service Rep. told me that they had received over 300 calls since 7:00 AM this morning from customers complaining about everything from the Guide, loss of channels, and it being more difficult to record programs with the new operating system. She said that Comcast employees were trained on the new operating system a couple of weeks back and had the same exact complaints as the customers that have called in today. She said there will be a new guide introduced in the 1st half of 2009. I told her that this was unacceptable and that i would have to switch to either Direct TV or Dish Network. She asked me to give comcast 2 weeks, that the CS reps were turning in every complaint and that she believed a change would be made. I said that I would give them two weeks. I despise Dish Network and it will cost me $389 to go to DirectTV (2 HD DVRs, 1 HD receiver, and 2 regular receivers) so I don't know what to do.

To each his own. I have been with Dish Network for years and have always been pleased with them. I have my HD Dish (One DVR, One receiver only upstairs), home phone, high speed DSL and two cell phones for about $280 a month through ATT. I don't have any premium movies services except for the Encore channels and two Movie Channels that are bundled with the package I have. Other than that I spend a couple of hundred for Game Plan and Full Court each year and have had no problems with any service. I even put a HD antennae in the attic for the local channels when the weather is really bad and knocks out the dish (which is rare and never lasts long).

I lived in an area about 4 years back that did not offer cable. I had dish network for 47 days. Out of the 47 days, there were 3 days that my service was not out or constantly interrupted. They sent 4 different installers and then flew in a specialist. They made me mail back my receivers 3 different times and sent me new ones. Nothing worked. I was in an area with no trees. Their customer service was the worst I have ever dealt with from any business to date. After I cancelled service they tried to charge my $470 for early termination and said that I damaged one of the receivers. I will resort to rabbit ears before I give Dish Network any of my money.

Just got an email back from Comcast rep. She said they HAD to upgrade to this guide in order for them to use the Channel 1 OnDemand. She said that we will go from our current ~1000 hours of content to 8-10,000 but it will be a continual addition of content over the next 30 days before we receive the full content. BAH! This guide SUCKS!

to make every channel broadcast in digital format. This is to comply with the changes to cable tv required by the government for 2009.

I happen to be in JAN tonight and have looked at the new Comcast guide. We have channel 1 on demand in Nashville and our guide is light years ahead of this.

I didn't realize the guide was different in different areas. I'm moving this week and my new place doesn't allow satellites so I'm switching from directtv to comcast. You guys make me kinda scared reading about all this comcast nonsense.

It's the interface that is so bad - the graphics look like they're from a 1980 computer. The old one was pretty sleek, easy to read. This one really looks horrible. The guide is hard to read, the DVR playback doesn't tell you the time you've done on the show, etc.

I can't believe they paid someone to develop that - it has to be the worst software release to a mass audience in the past 15 years.

That is Fox HD. The name changed when they loaded Fox News Channel HD. You should still have it, just under a different name.

If it wasn't for the HD content it would be like 1987...

The guide and DVR option are horrible...

Comcast might just suck more than Cr$$ms......and that aint easy my friends...

Surely they will load the data in there soon. You can still set up a recording for a certain time and channel. That is the best I can do right now. This new system sux. Seriously considering heading to Direct TV. Going to give Comcast 2 weeks to fix all of this and then I am done.

but I have repetitively had problems with Comcast. I am on my 4th box in 6 months. But I cant have a dish because the Homeowners Association doesn't allow them unless they are hidden. Not going to plant it in the back yard on a pole and it can't go on the rear roof line of my house because it wouldn't receive adequate signal.

Not doubting your experience at all. But I've been with Dish for five years and have had not troubles whatsoever and that included a move. I've always had no problems with the customer service and always found them very patient and helpful. Hate you had a bad time, b/c I always try to steer cable folks their way. HD lineup is awesome as well.

never even needed customer service, so I have no idea if they are any good.

And that included like twelve moves.

People can have both good and bad experiences with both Dish and Cable.

They better do something or AT&T needs to come on quick.
No way in hell I get Dish or Direct with 6 damn converter boxes....</p>

....I had it recording one show and it said it was 50% full. Had it record several hours more of random crap through the afternoon, and came home to it saying 60%.

Even though I was fully confident it was some kind of permanent thing I called in and asked the service lady what had happened to my service? "I woke up and it was 1990 again" She feeds me the company line about changing over to channel one for the on demand..... (seriously at this point 301 for HBO, 368 for Starz, 499 and 500 for pay movies, and 600s above the porn for all the random tv stations..... not hard to remember.) I stressing that I'm sure that my one little call didn't mean **** but she kept stressing that they had been getting shitloads of complaints. Apparently they had been trying it out in Monroe for a few weeks, got plenty of complaints, and still did it. But on the good side she did volunteer that I was paying for some **** I was supposed to get for free. What am I saying good side? The only thing I liked about comcast was its consistency. I could consistently count on what was actually on my tv to exceed my expectations and I could consistently count on getting screwed on my bill...... I don't have enough fingers to count how many times I have called in to inquire about my bill to get back the response "yeah, something's wrong, you shouldn't be paying for that". I can deal with having to hassle them to get my bill right as long as the product is good.... which aside from f-ing Raycom it is..... hell, I expect it. but this 1990's BS is the last straw. If this **** doesn't get fixed before my current medical problems do then comcast is out and direct tv is in.

Can you watch them online? Not an ideal solution, but at least you'll be able to keep up with what's going on until you get your system back to normal.
