Chaney and Dixon looked like they had a great time. Both will represent MSU well.

Surprise guests were Diaz, Wilson, and Mullen.

Maybe old news:

Mullen said the bowling end of the endzone is in progress. Seating 70K. Looking for 2012 year for completion but was stressing they need money people to step up.

Usual stuff, come to spring game. Got the impression he will be glad when next week comes regarding recruitment.

Nothing else new to report.

I did get to meet Diaz and Wilson. Both are great hires. Wilson told me he was excited to come and compete in the SEC. It seems that is a major deal to both. Both bring energy and all talked about winning a national championship.

Mullen said that Relf finally has figured things out. Said Russell was coming along. Said redshirting Russell was the best thing, stressed mat duty would be huge for him.

Without going into details, the rumor about Cam was in the room.

or did he give a reason? Was he speaking to entire dinner saying this or privately to you or State folks? The stadium comment was good news.

for some North Endzone expansion news. If they're saying 70k that would add, what, roughly 12k? Plus it'd make it a helluva lot louder down on the field. Stoked.

Given the way most of the recruits we've been dealing with lately have handled themselves I'd be tired of dealing with the kids too. Granted that's always part of it, but a lot of higher profile guys seem to be awful wishy washy this year.

Getting tired of dealing with the kids is NOT a good sign. Hell they didn't have many turn them down at Fla. Same with Orgeron at USC, even though he did bring some talent to Oxford, I am sure it was much more difficult than recruiting at USC. Everyone was saying how great of a recruiter he was at USC, but hell, I could recruit at USC. Just meet the recruits at the airport with the pom squad girls in their tight white sweater, smile and say, welcome to USC boys and they would be ready to sign.

Back to our situation. I am sure it is frustrating working on someone for over a year, they committed, shake hands (BS) and then go somewhere else a week before signing day is extremely frustrating. We will need to work something out.

Apparently the architect that designed Jerry's house is advising on it or something along those lines. I think they have decided to do the endzone before working on the West side. I know initially they were going to have a basic structure in the endzone so they wouldn't lose seating capacity when they remodeled the west side. Then they would go back and complete the endzone. That is what I heard a few weeks ago.

can MSU fill up that big of a stadium?

Don't think so.....I think we will have a lot of empty seats. Both us and OM do not have that kind of loyal fan base that will support that large of a stadium no matter what. If we win.....maybe.But, unlike say South Carolina which packs them in win or lose, neither of us can do that.

but the plan is to only utilize the west side upper deck on an as needed basis. That way, the stadium looks full on TV.

I heard a rumor, and then proceed to not say what the rumor is, then you should be banned for a week, maybe two. What's the point in saying I heard a rumor? Really? Maybe it's all the recruiting soap operas but it seems like this happens a whole lot more. Spill it or save it.

There is a good chance that the West side upper has to be shut down within the next 15 years. Not sure exactly how many seats that is, but they have to account for losing those.

while it passes the test right now, the west side upper deck "will eventually need to be reinforced or taken down"

Then 70k is not too big for us. Not saying we'll sell the whole place out in season tickets soon or on a regular basis. But I think we could very regularly put 55k-65k people in it. And we'd sell it out for big games.

Not to mention there is already high demand for more club level & suites.

the key is to keep demand. I would much rather have a 63K stadium with high demand than a 70K stadium and anyone can get a ticket for $10 outside the stadium.

Let's just tear the whole thing down and start over.
It's funny you say that because it is exactly what Byrne originally wanted to do with the west side. However, the feasibility study nixed the idea.

that we willhave to eventuallytear down the West upper deck: The new endzone and future newWest upper deck can be planned together with our current East lower and upper decks, making all 3 sides matchtogether wellwhen it's done.
