her husband is a cuz of dylan and he thinks dylan's height may indeed keep him from playing QB in college which means even though it's his cousin whose watched him play a lot, he's not a big homer... just being a realist....

BUT...he is confident Dylan will make it in the secondary...

we shall see.... has anybody seen him play safety?

bring up brett and start trying to do comparisons and all that...

in other words...dude gets tired of hearing about brett all the time.... I bet that does get old after a while

hope he gets to play... it would be great for him to excel somewhere and eventually make it to the NFL via MSU...

I know that is a wild fantasy but you never know...

He runs between a 4.75 and 4.8 forty. Unless Balis can dramatically increase his speed, I wouldn't expect to see him at safety.

Not that i'm drawing a one-to-one comparison here - but Todd Reesing is only 5'-11". Drew Brees is a hair over 6'-0" (same with Chase Daniels) - there are definitely exceptions to the rule...Jeremiah Masoli 5'-11"...

Problem with Dylan is this - State has been burned really, really bad by short quarterbacks (Henig and Lee) but those guys were awful quarterbacks, nevermind they were short. If Dylan were 3" taller he'd be a 4-star prospect with the numbers he put up - and if a frog had wings he wouldn't bump his *** when he landed... i know. From the videos I've seen - the guy can make throws that Lee and Relf couldn't - accuracy, arm strength, touch. Give him a shot at quarterback - at least to push the others to be better - and let him hold on field-goals and extra-points. run the occasional fake fg/xp from that position and get some press on our end for having a kid named FAVRE at quarterback on the roster.

If that doesn't work - slide him over to safety and special teams.

not because he can't, but because of our depth chart. We've got Banks and Mitchell set there for the next two years, and then we're likely going to have Thames, Nikoe Whitley, Matthew Wells, or Nick Griffen there after that. Not to mention that we are likely to get Brian Isaac from Natchez next year as well.

I don't think that Favre could beat out Tyler Russell. Not because of their size, but because I think Russell is better and has more experience. IF Favre plays QB at MSU, it won't be until his fifth year senior year, barring injuries.

By then, we'll have some other "real deal" QB in all likelihood anyway.

Damn man, what do have to do to be a 5 star prospect?? Favre's stats were off the charts for any high school level plus honors out the wazoo, Mr. Football in MS., Parade AA......geezzzz

he's not fast either - that's why a 6'-2" Dylan Favre would only be 4-star.

I hope Tyler does beat everyone out - because he has all the tools to do it. I think in order for Mullen to really convince everyone of his recruiting scheme - you had better offer and try to land Mr. Mississippi every year.

I thought the primary job of the QB in Mullen's offense was to run? At least thats what I have read on this board. No way he will fit in this offense right?

If you really think he was only a 4.6 runner, I don't know what to say to you. I think he was still hampered by the ankle he 17'd up in that 45-0 Egg Bowl beat down at the Combine. Slow isn't one of the things I'd say about DP.

how many times does it have to be said that those guys are/were in pass-first offenses, and we run an option offense that wants the QB to carry the ball double digit times? How many times? Find me a quarterback that ran the ball over 100 times in a season, gained positive yardage doing so, and was that size or smaller with that speed or slower, and then I'll buy in.

he was terrible in pass coverage but he made up for it with his size and how hard he hit in that receivers always had to worry about getting knocked out of their jock when they cut in front of him. Favre is not close to his size and won't be able to bring what Morgan brought to the table.

I simply said "didnt he run a 4.6 at combine" You can take whatever you want from a sentence but you took the wrong thing. I know he served MSU well and played hard for us from day one.

But you have to wonder why he never got picked up. I think in 40s are overrated but most teams covet them. .17 seconds doesnt seem like that much of a difference over the distance of a basketball court. There was something that the NFL didnt like about him and I doubt it had anything to do with his off the field trouble he had at one time. I dont remember what that trouble was, just it being mentioned.
