from someone at Manning Camp. Said Dak and the kid from Oklahoma looked really good in passing drills.

If dak improves as much as from fresh to soph year again this season, we're gonna be a pretty good offense.

Trevor Knight's individual performance against Alabama last season was enough for people to mention Oklahoma in the national title game. The fact that they're mentioning Dak and him in the same tweet is encouraging.

Right on about the Oline. If they hold together and can give a play time to develop good things will happen. When your Oline isn't consistent, that's when a scrambler like Dak can bail you out... find a way. I want the Dak mentality all over the team. If we can go out there and compete from the coinflip to the final seconds then we'll do well. I've seen a much-hyped MSU team hit the field with an attitude like other teams are just gonna lay down for us. Even when we had superior talent against a 'cupcake' we seem to play to their level and never quite put the game away until late.

Recall the thread ...

from last week or so about the number of plays QBs had per sack. Just recall that Dad didn't have too many sacks last year. And, based on his 'escapability' and 'ability to tuck and run;' I don't see any defense going with an all out rush against him this year.

Oline. It's all about the Oline.

Our OL the reason I have no wool at all about this season. I'll be happy if we win six games and make a bowl game. Anything more than that is lagniappe. I hope I'm wrong but I think some of you guys that are expecting 8 or 9 wins are in for a bit of a disappointment this year.

I believe a great ol makes an average qb good. I also believe a great dual qb makes an average ol good

Gabe Jacksons are few...........

we'll see how it goes but I wonder if we can pound the ball between the tackles. Dak's a great runner but he's more like an up the middle running back than an elusive scrambler. He's going to need a solid OL.

This mentality is getting stupid. Why the 17 would you choose to think this? We only had one significant loss, Gabe, and while you can't replace a guy like that, we're filling his spot with a lot of talent and potential. Siddoway is no big loss because the RT replacement should be an upgrade, whether it's Malone or Senior. We return a senior LT and C who should both compete for All-SEC, and a solid, experienced RG. And there are several guys behind them who have came on very strong in the spring, so we've got enough depth to survive anything barring a complete catastrophe as far as injuries are concerned.

Our o-line situation is nowhere near as bad as some of you are dead set on believing. Yeah, we way not have anyone truly elite (yet - Clayborn will be as good or better than Gabe before his college career is over), but we've got a more than solid group that's going to be just fine.

I never said our OLine situation was bad. I just think it's a box of chocolates at this point. If we have a good Oline, we'll be very dangerous. If we don't, we'll be about as good as we have been the last 3-4 years.

I completely agree with that. I was replying to FQDawg's expectation that our OL will limit us to another 6-6 season. There's no reason to expect that it'll be that weak of a link.

My wool isn't growing based on Dak and the Offense. My wool is growing because of our defense. If it is as good as we think it might be our offense will be good enough.

Good point. If the offense can do well on 3rd down conversion rate, we'll be a really nice team. Offense has to sustain drives though. Keep an eye on 3rd down %

So you'll be happy losing to Arkansas at home, Vandy at home or Kentucky in addition to ole miss, TA&M at home, Auburn at home, Alabama and LSU? Did you just step out of a time machine from 2005?

I heard the same

on the radio in Baton Rouge yesterday. Dak had a lot of praise for his accuracy and arm strength. Granted it was 7 on 7 work but it's still nice to hear that our guy is being impressive.

As for why I would choose to think this... it puts me in a win-win situation. If we struggle and finish 6-6, it's about what I expected so I won't be overly upset. If I'm wrong and we do better, then great. It's not like my opinion about our record matters one iota in the grand scheme of things but I'd rather be pleasantly surprised than disappointed. So I'm keeping my expectations low.

I hope you're right about the OL. But I'll believe it when I see it.

I think our best case scenario is 7-5...

I think we lose to Alabama, LSU, Auburn, Texas A&M and Ole Miss.

But I wouldn't put it past us to screw up and drop a game somewhere that we shouldn't (most likely at Kentucky). That puts us at 6-6. And in a bowl. And with our long history of losing seasons, I'm not going to scoff at simply reaching a bowl game.

Again, I'm keeping my expectations low. I'll be very happy to be wrong.

And I think you're crazy. This team is going to be a lot better than most anyone is expecting it to be. 9-3.

LOL come on man...

I'm not always the most optimistic when it comes to our football team, but even I won't go that far.

As a program we are , or atleast better be, past the point of losing to most of the SEC teams on our schedule as well as dropping a OOC game. That's 2002-09ish.

This is Mullen's most talented team, or atleast has the most potential.

Like others have said, if our OL is solid we will have a great year. Our defense will be one of the better D's in the league. Not worried there.

I say we beat Auburn , A&M and LSU, yes I think we upset them in BR.
