LOL. Define "the end of the season". It happened a few weeks ago. You mean "conclusion", and unfortunately I have to agree with you.
I can see our admin giving him a contract extension to make him "fire proof". This would save money in their eyes.
Well there's no way to really know that until you give it a shot. It's always a risk for just about anyone even current P5 guys. There are only a select few who are proven coaches and not the illusion some people have just because a guy has P5 experience.
Tommy Tuberville to Texas Tech, Bret Bieleima Arkansas, Charlie Strong Texas, Gary Andersen Oregon State, Steve Sarkisian USC, Mike Riley Nebraska.
Now some of these guys are still early in their tenures and I still think a couple a solid coaches (Bielema/Strong) are solid coaches despite their struggles but point is don't automatically think it's a slam dunk or proven just because a guy has P5 experience and had some success at another location. Some coaches will be successful just about anywhere others it depends on the fit etc..
I'll say something crazy where most will think WTF are you out of your mind? Even Mark Richt who I'd bet everyone here would be ecstatic with I don't know that I'd classify as a slam dunk. I'd take him for sure if there was ever a chance but he's has a lot of benefits/resources at Georgia that he wouldn't have here. The first half of his career was great and better than the 2nd half of his career there. He's also married to his pro style which is not my preferred offense but if there are any coaches I'd have faith in giving it shot here and maybe working it would be him and Bielema. He kind of reminds me of a better version of Tuberville after Auburn. You can't turn down a resume like that if you're us but the point is even with a resume like that I can't say slam dunk. Actually if he does get let go, I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up in Maryland or maybe South Carolina. They'd pay him and he's the kind of splash that Maryland is probably looking to hire.
Maryland keeps saying that want a spread offense. No one watched the press conference?

No I didn't see it but I did know they wanted an offensive guy. I could see Rich Rod for them too. If I were them I'd take Richt for the same reason as us, it's flash hire and he's got a great resume. Doesn't matter if he doesn't run the spread, you still take the shot with a guy like this and see if it works out. I think South Carolina could be a landing spot too, from one SEC east to another SEC east.
I would take Richt in a nanosecond too. You have to if you're us. That resume is too good to pass up. My point is even though that resume is so good you can't assume that he's a slam dunk and that he'll be wildly successful here. Tuberville had a good resume at Auburn too but then at Texas Tech he didn't have a winning season in conference in his 3 years there and that's after Leach never having a losing season in conference since his first.
I always say it's about playing the probabilities and with that kind of resume and experience he's a a high probability guy as you can get. So we'd have to take him. My point is only that don't just assume because of that stellar resume he'd work out here for sure. Very few coaches are for sure. He's worked at FSU as OC under Bowden and at Georgia with all its money and great recruiting ground, he wouldn't have that here.
So it's hard to say how he'd do at a place without all the resources he's had during his career. The resume and the flash of the hire is enough for us to take him a nanosecond like you said, I'd do it too but just saying don't assume automatically he'd have tons of success here as well. We don't know and nothing is for sure like it would be for most coaches save a select few.
No one is a slam dunk. But the excitement that he would generate here would be huge. It is a game changer. We would get 4 and 5 stars legitimately look our way not just visit to hang out with buddies or for free tickets.

If we were hoping to be in the middle of the pack for the conference, we should have been able to compete at least on those levels. None of those three teams should be much better than us THIS YEAR. But with the way many around here think - they killed us last year so why shouldn't they kill us again?
I don't get it. College teams are different most every year. The levels of mediocrity people expect from RU is insane. No wonder Flood is still held in high esteem from done.

Well, one more blowout vs Michigan this week and nobody but Barchi and Hermann will be holding Flood in high esteem.
I'd wait for the report to come out, then fire Fraud immediately for cause and hand the keys to Norries for the rest of the season.
