Agreed but with the closing speed of linebackers, linemen and secondary, as a defense, I don't even keep an eye on him at all because I know anyone on the field can catch him in 1.5 seconds. But for passing yes, when he does not hold the ball and take a 12 yard sack and when he does not run the ball, he is our #1 passing QB.
You act like Shapen Peyton manning running the ball. He’s not.
And find me 3 sacks where Shapen holds the ball too long. Go find them and link them and tell us what time to scroll to on the link. You can’t find 3. We will wait.

He’s got a lot of tools and can be a first round pick if he reaches his ceiling. But he’s pretty clearly not ready yet to take over full time. Using him situationally this year is totally fine. And then see how he develops in the offseason but presume he’s QB1 next season.

Kamario’s not the best QB on the team, but he is the best dual threat athlete on the feild for either team.

Kamario’s running game make defenses keep a spy dedicated to him.
So one less in coverage and one less in blitz.
He should have more time in pocket with better throwing lanes than Shapen.

Go back to Kamario’s TD pass. It was the best pocket protection of the game.

I would like a few more plays where both are on the field like during USM.

The TD wasn’t really a “good” throw. The guy was wide open and he made the throw so I give him credit. At best it was an ok throw.
Agree. The ball was pretty badly underthrown, but Evans was so wide open that he was able to slow down and come back a yard or two to catch it and still was able to get in the end zone. A good throw and its a walk-in touchdown. But hey, he did make the throw, so credit for that.

I think he will be fun to watch in the future, and I'm sure he had some nerves at play that had some influence on those throws.....

However, there was one he threw down the middle and over threw the receiver just a bit, and I swear, he was flat footed and it wall all arm, and made me think, DUDE has a cannon for a arm

Just a young qb trying to aim the ball & not quite having a feel for the game yet. KT can make all the throws now. Whether he can make them accurately remains to be seen, but he was asked to do something very specific & he came thru with 2 tds.

More reps is all he needs. We are lucky to have him. He is a very confident individual & once the game slows down for him, he'll be a beast.

Still the long-term QB. Even if we want/need more now. Hopefully, he doesn't follow any new pocketbooks tossed over by other teams.

Oh i'm definitely giving him credit. Already have in this thread.

OK? Whats your point?

Has nothing to do with what i'm saying. I'm saying that our fans yelling at the TV and group text that Lebby is and idiot for bringing in Shape are the actual idiots.

And Shapen just had a game where he had guys open and overthrew 3 TD's. They are both going to make bad throws, ok throws, and good throws. Going by the sample size, I'm not saying KT is a bad passer. He had 3 drives in the game. I'm sure there was some adrenalin and butterflies. How often does it take Shapen 1 qtr or half to dial in? I'm not saying bench Shapen and go completely KT, but I do think KT needs some meaningful drives.

Going by the sample size you should be saying Shapenis a good passer.

The shapen overthrew 3 TD's doesn't account that 2 of those were deep balls where Shapen has been extremely good. The other wasn't a deep ball but it wasn't a 10 yard hitch route either.

WHAT DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND ABOUT THIS? No one is bashing Kamario, but yelling at lebby for putting Shapen back in is 17ing dumb AF.

He looked like Relf at the end of 2008.

but he also looked overly hyped up. Not sure his passes are necessarily a reflection of where his passing ability is right now as much as just him not having time to settle down.
Agreed, coming in cold off the bench isn't the same as prepping a whole week for a game. He had one great pass, I swear he one hopped another pass later though.

I could've been clearer.
KT isnt quite ready to fully take the reigns, but he does contribute. And yes Shapen should've come back in. Lebby is pulling the right strings with this particular situation.

I wouldn't call them idiots. They're overly emotional ignorant fans. They don't know what they don't know.

KT looked great. He’s the future, however that 4th down throw he had was an abomination before God and man. Didn’t even make it halfway there. Shapen is our guy this season.

Petrino said afterwards that he was surprised Lebby put Shapen back in as KT was giving them problems. No i’m not advocating sitting Shapen but KT certainly should play more than the occasional 1 or 2 running plays he had been doing prior to the Arky game.

I’m sure there are 3 sacks where it happened but every quarterback has held the ball too long at some point.

the point I’m making is what most of you think is holding the ball too long isn’t. Our o line sucks at pass blocking. Its a GD jail break on most plays.

He didn’t have 1 great pass though. He had one very average pass to a wide open receiver.

I don’t think Taylor would have done as well as Van Buren did given the same opportunity. I think Van Buren looked better as a true freshman last year than Taylor does this year, in this particular offense.

Van Buren was average at best. Taylor is more raw but has so much more upside. Glad Shapen has stayed healthy though. I think Dan Mullen could have found a way to win with a FR Kamario Taylor But I doubt Jeff Lebby could have.

How many snaps has MVB had at LSU with all of Nuss's struggles? How many TDs in SEC games? I'll hang up and listen

The call worked out because we won.

Being mad at the time is not dumb AF. 1. KT may not have been passing prettily but Ark had no answer for the dual threat he presented. The run game was squat until he gained yards. They focused on the RB's because shapen was no real treat with his legs. Kinda blew their game plan because he could pass effectively enough and gets yards on the ground. Would they have adjusted? Possibly but we won't know.

2. The other thing. Shapen was not lighting the stats up before he went out. Then he was in and out of the tent so no one really knew his status. Still not sure what the officials saw that required him to come out.

One thing for sure, the game would have been played out in a different manner because each qb has different strengths.

Um Arkansas stopped him on a possession so they did have an answer.

And getting emotional in the heat of the moment is always always always dumb whether it’s football or basketball or chess or life in general.

don’t be dumb.

And he won’t be getting many for LSU next year when Nuss is gone either.
Better chance KT starts at LSU next year than MVB. They are 100% going to the portal.

Please note this doesn’t mean I think Taylor is transferring as much as the fact MVB will get replaced by someone else from the portal.
